Hideo Kojima and his independent studio,Kojima Productions, are industry names that bring with them a lot of history in game development. Recently,Kojima Productionshas shared that it is hiring for a number of roles.

Kojima Production’s website offers a splash page infographic with hyperlinks to individual career postings. These career listings determine that the company is looking for a programmer, an artist, a game designer, a sound designer, a writer, a project manager, and a producer with “other,” perhaps referring to additional responsibilities. After Kojima Production’s listings appeared, Kojima has expanded upon these listings and what prospective candidates may look forward to from the result of their work. Kojima’s definition of the developer’s games identify them as “original” and, funny enough, “outrageous.” Interestingly, Kojima’s emphasis on “original titles” seems to suggest that the developer has no plans to revisit previous Kojima Productions franchises, such as theprolificMetal Gear Solidseries.

Anyone who has played Kojima Productions’Death Strandingknows that it certainly fits the bill of completely “original” and “outrageous,” and whether that was to a fault or to its benefit is up to the players who have experienced it. With enigmatic teases posted that fans believe feature an obscured Norman Reedus, there is always the possibility that Kojima is referring to aDeath Strandingsequel. Sequels may not classify distinctly as “original,” butDeath Stranding’s IP does as it pertains to Kojima Productions' independent status following its departure from Konami.

Therefore, sequels may not be fully ruled out from Kojima and evidence has seemed to suggest that his work with Reedus has continued, though that supposed rumor could be in reference to a completely new title altogether.

Because there is such an amicable and frequented relationship between Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley, it would not at all be surprising if Kojima makes an appearance atnext week’s The Game Awards, even if it is in the capacity of an award presenter. If Kojima is indeed hiring for positions on a new game, The Game Awards would present a venerable stage with which to announce a project that people may want to be a part of.

Each position at Kojima Productions is listed as working locally in Tokyo with fluency in Japanese as successful candidate prerequisites, which further narrows the potential candidates who may apply and sheds no other light on what particular titles may be in the works. However, Kojima’s statements are integral for players to receive a little inclination as to what novel brainchild he will produce next.
