Summary

Hexworks and CI Games release the latest update forLords of the Fallen, addressing a variety of issues and bugs including fan requested tweaks with New Game Plus. The Soulslike has seen plenty of post-launch support from developer Hexworks, as numerousupdates and patches have arrived forLords of the Fallenon a consistent basis.

However, even as well received as Lords of the Fallen has been, the launch hasn’t been quite as solid as players had hoped. In addition to issues with Crossplay, players have run into a variety of problems from save glitches, balancing issues, and thePC side ofLords of the Fallenhas even suffered from performance problemssuch as stuttering and input lag. However, the studio continues to push out new updates, with the latest one continuing to address community feedback.

Update 1.1.224 forLords of the Fallenaims to address a number of big ticket items for the community, with the first centering around New Game Plus. One of the bigger community requests centered aroundLords of the Fallen’s Vestiges, or the checkpoint system. With this latest update players will now have the option on how they’d like to restart their world, whether to advance to the next consecutive new game world or replay the current world at the same difficulty, character, progression, and items, but resetting all NPCs and quests. In addition, instead of removing all Vestiges right away, they’ll be gradually removed the higher up the NG ladder the player goes.

The patch also addresses a few other key areas including the “Leashing” system for enemies inLords of the Fallen. Enemies will no longer relentlessly pursue players and instead limit how far they leave their initial spawn area. Crowd behavior is also getting a tweak so that enemies won’t swarm players quite as often and enemy numbers are also being reduced in areas where players struggle the most. However, it’s worth noting that in NG+, the enemy numbers will return to normal, providing players a more challenging experience.

Outside of various performance and stability improvements, Hexworks also provides a small update on therecently disabled Crossplay feature forLords of the Fallen. While they continue to make progress, the studio continues to see impacted numbers decline and will continue to issue updates both with this patch and another coming later this week. In the meantime, Hexworks continues to work closely with some of its partners like NVIDIA, AMD, and Epic to resolve active issues.

In addition to fixes, Hexworks took an opportunity to address some other reported issues including players impacted by corrupted saves or lost game progression. The studio continues to work on a solution for these issues and as part of that effort, a dedicated team as been established where players can send in their corrupted saves and downgraded characters to. The intention is that the team will then respond by providing the save files with the “required vigor to restore characters up to the level” they were before getting hit by the glitch. The post then goes into detail on the stepsLords of the Fallenplayers can take to locate their save file based on which issue they’ve run into.
