A bizarre bug has been discovered inCall of Duty: Warzonewhich instantly downs the player when activated. Redditor csvoltsdiscovered the bugand posted it on Reddit, but others in the comments section are verifying saying that it has happened to them or people they know in the past as well.

The bug in question is related toCall of Duty: Warzone’s heartbeat scanner item, which is meant to show the locations of enemies in the vicinity. However, instead of being helpful, as soon as the player uses the item, they are instead instantly downed.

To verify that this was the case, csvolts tries to use the heartbeat scanner again after it downs him the first time, making sure there are no enemies nearbythat could explain his death. As soon as they use the item, however, they are downed immediately.

This of course isn’t the only bug thatCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers are struggling against right now, withDr. DisRespect even raging about poor connection issues in the game. At the moment, Infinity Ward has made no comment on this bug and when or if it will be fixed, and there doesn’t seem to be any apparent cause or specific conditions that make the bug occur. That said, astute players have noticed that the bug never occurs when used as part of a loadout, instead only triggering when a heartbeat scanner is picked up as loot.

Until this is fixed, however, it is probably best to keep a safe distance from these items. There is really no telling yet whether or not the bug would affect a given player, and the benefits gained from the heartbeat scanner, while useful, are hardly worth risking an instant down. With teammates, one can be revived after a down, but in the middle of a gunfight that isn’t always possible. More than likely this issue will be addressed with thenextCall of Duty: Warzonepatch, but players will have to wait to see for certain.

Thisfrustrating bugis also rather ironic, as the heartbeat scanner seems dead set on removing at least one heartbeat from its results. Unfortunately for csvolts, he was the only one affected by the bug, as he claims in the comments that his teammates were using heartbeat scanners as well but to much less deadly results.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
