Fans of the X-Men comics were shocked to hear that Magik was making her way intoMarvel’s Midnight Suns. Of course, some of these superheroes are powerful, but Magik is on another level. Her mastery of Limbo gives her the opportunity to transport herself and others just about anywhere in the universe.

Fans of the comics might have thought she’d act as some kind of interdimensional gatekeeper, moving players back and forth inMarvel’s Midnight Suns. She does do this, but she’s actually a fully playable character in the squad and a very powerful one after players unlock her.

Unlocking Magik

Players will meet Magik very early on in the game. Immediately after the tutorial andunlocking Blade, they’ll be treated to a cutscene where Magik plays a pivotal role in bringing the protagonist into the fold. After that, she’s used to transport the squad on their first few missions.

However, she is not yet unlocked at this time. Players can speak to her, but they can’tedit her hero deckand bring her into combat. It’s frustrating to meet Magik, know her power, and be expected to wait. However, the wait isn’t too long. After beating Faustian Bargain, one of the earliest missions, Magik is a playable character.

Take her on some missions toadd cards to the deckwith Gamma Coils. Once she gets her full slate of skills, players can understand much better exactly how much power she wields. For those not familiar with the comics, she can use both entrance and exit portals for some solid battlefield control.

When using her best cards, she’s much more of a damage dealer than a simple controller. Her knockbacks, moves, and push skills are handy, especially for generating some environmental explosions, but it’s her damage that shines through on the toughest difficulties. At her best, she’s on par with any other damage dealer.

Marvel’s Midnight Sunsis available now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
