One of the added bonuses about playingMass Effect: Legendary Editionis that among all of the gameplay changes and graphical overhauls, the remastered trilogy also includes most of the releasedDLC for all threeMass Effectgames. While most of the DLC is by all accounts good, the story pack Overlord forMass Effect 2includes one of the best missions in the entire game.
The Overlord mission revolves around an experimental rogue V.I. which was made by Cerberus. After exploring the seemingly abandoned facility, Shepard and crew discover Dr. Gavin Archer, the chief scientist behind the experiment. At the end of the mission, Shepard meets Gavin’s brother David, the human “volunteer” who was forced into participating in an experiment that horribly tried to mix V.I. and the human mind. In properMass Effect: Legendary Editionfashion, the mission ends with a tough choice.

What to Choose for David in Mass Effect 2
There two options that Shepard is presented with in regards to David. They can either choose to say “David is coming with me” or “The project needs him.” Both are valid options, but here’s what happens as a result:
By choosing “David is coming with me,” Shepard decides that they’ll take David away from the facility. Gavin doesn’t like the idea of him leaving, so he draws his weapon and shoots at Shepard. Shepard dodges the shots and threatens Gavin. He asks where they’ll take David and Shepard decides to bring him to the Jon Grisson Academy.
By choosing this route, Shepard will get amessage from the Illusive Mansaying that they’ve greatly disrupted Cerberus' work by taking David away. InMass Effect 3, David vouches for Shepard if the Grissom Academy is saved earlier in the game. He also gives Shepard access to some weapons and apologizes to bothEDI and Garrusif they’re in Shepard’s party. Gavin will become a war asset adding to the overall Galactic Readiness needed to confront the Reapers at the end of the game.
By choosing “The project needs him,” David stays on the facility and keeps Gavin alive because of the importance of his genius. Opposite of taking David away, the Illusive Man will message Shepard saying how important the work they’re doing is and that they’re grateful for Shepard’s focus on Cerberus' mission. InMass Effect 3, David will have died, but Gavin says that he was able to learn valuable information from the experiment. Despite everything,Gavin will still become a war assetfor Shepard’s fight against the Reapers.
