For those who have yet to look into it,Wordleis a daily web-based puzzle game which tasks players with guessing what the hidden word is in six tries. It sounds pretty simplistic, and it is, which is probably why it’s not only massively popular, with theNew York Timespurchasing the game, but it’s inspired manyWordleclones that play around with the format. Of course, the video game community is not one to pass up the chance to take the concept and create their own version of it, which is why oneMinecraftuser has reimagined Josh Wardle’s puzzle sensation in the blocky world.
Uploading a brief clip to Reddit a couple of days ago, user urgle_gurgle has managed to build their ownWordle-style game withinMinecraft, which they call “Word Hunt”, complete with a fully functioning QWERTY keyboard, and all done in the vanilla version, so no mods. The top post in the thread also describes how they managed to code the “most complex features,” describing making the daily word the same for every player, and getting around not being able to store the dictionary in the game. On top of that, a link has been provided for anyone who wishes to play it for themselves.

Even though it’s still something of a phenomenon,Wordle’s popularity does seem to have declined as of late, particularly since its acquisition by theNew York Timesback in January. However, it’s still going strong, with many players around the world challenging themselves each day. The fact that there are fans out there willing to repurpose it for the video game community shows that the word game itself is still making waves, especially given how many variations of it there currently are.
This is also not the first time the word game been adapted to the Mojang-made IP. Last month, another user managed torecreateWordleinMinecraftusing redstone. While this latest iteration looks more similar to the original source material that inspired it, this redstone equivalent is still impressive, capitalizing on the web-based game’s popularity.
WithMinecraftfans creating many useful things using redstone, as well as the enormous builds that players task themselves with making, the open-world sandbox title is still a force to be reckoned with. What fans like urgle_gurgle show is that there is an enormous, almost endless amount of potential to be had, and while it’s possible thatWordlemay leave the limelight sooner rather than later,Minecraft’s star only seems to shine brighter.
Minecraftis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
