Summary

In celebration of Valentine’s Day,Minecrafthas revealed a new mob called the Bogged, which is available now to check out in update 1.21. Despite being available inMinecraftSnapshot already, Mojang continues to add to the content offerings of patch 1.21, which now includes a fresh hostile mob.

Since it was released,Minecrafthas included hostile and neutral mobsthat drop their own unique loot. While Sheep and Cows drop Wool and Leather respectively, hostile mobs like Zombies drop Rotten Flesh, Skeletons drop Bones and Arrows, and Spiders drop Webs. Because of this, players may go beyond their peaceful farms to acquire less ordinary loot from enemies that are particularly dangerous at night. Spawn rooms offer players a helpful opportunity to farm these hostile mobs, as many players build around them to streamline the process of acquiring items from them. Mojang has confirmed that another mob will be added to the game in update 1.21, and Snapshot players can already experience them.

Mojang announced an addition toMinecraft1.21 on Valentine’s Day. Update 1.21 already includes Trial Chambers, Vaults, and the Armadillo thatwon the recentMinecraftmob vote. A new Skeleton called the Bogged was confirmed by Mojang, and it can be found in the Trial Chambers as well. The Bogged will shoot poison-tipped arrows which add a debuff similar to the one from Witches, damaging health over time and turning the red health bar green. As they’ve just been added to update 1.21, it’s currently unclear if the damage tick rate is as high as the poison inflicted by Witches. Because of the potential of being poisoned, this hostile mob could be particularly dangerous when paired with The Breeze in Trial Chambers or Zombies and Creepers in the overworld.

Where Can Players Find the Bogged?

Though it was explicitly confirmed that the Bogged could be found intheMinecraftTrial Chambers, other locations were only teased in the announcement. Mojang suggested that players could also find the new hostile mob in the Swamp and Mangrove biomes. Because of these specifications, it’s unlikely that players will encounter the Bogged alongside Strays which are normally found in Snow and Ice biomes. Similar to Strays, the Bogged have a unique appearance, though they aren’t clad in tattered clothes like the Strays. The Bogged have green bones and parts of their bodies are covered in dark splotches that resemble camouflage.

Though players can test update 1.21 on the Preview and Snapshot builds of the game, it’s currently unclear when it will be added to the live version ofMinecraftBedrock or Java. AsMojang confirmed Vaultssince the Snapshot release of 1.21, it may announce more content for the patch before it’s officially released.
