Few catchers are limited in their effectiveness as individuals as catchers are. They can call for a perfect pitch but if the pitcher can’t deliver it, then it’s really not going to matter. They can throw out runners, but this too requires some defensive ability on the person covering the base inMLB The Show 22.

So catchers, above most other positions, need to choose their teams wisely. They can’t be too picky as the truly great teams will already have an All-Star catcher around. But there are a few teams inMLB The Show 22that just need one catcher to complete their puzzle.
Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles are a truly horrendous team according to the ratings this year. They are tied for having the worst-rated catcher in the league and the catcher isn’t even the worst player in their starting rotation. So why consider the Orioles at all?
Players that want to be the single superstar on their team won’t have to share the focus with anyone else. And thanks to that 74 OVR from the current catcher, players canget called up in a hurry during their Road to the Showjourney. The Orioles present the fastest road to stardom.
Washington Nationals
The other team that requires a 74 OVR or better to stag the starting role at catcher is the Washington Nationals. As always, equipping gearwill help overtake the starting role, but it shouldn’t take more than a year or two until the call finally arrives.

The Nationals are by no means a great team but they are loads better than the Orioles. The starting pitching isn’t too shabby either, so calling for pitches shouldn’t be a total shot in the dark. They could use some pop in DC, so don’t hold back in the power department.
Houston Astros
The perennial World Series contenders don’t need much in terms of help, but they could use some backup behind the plate. A 75 OVR is a very low bar to surpass and the rest of the lineup is a 77 or higher. If the goal is to win a World Series, this is the place to be.
The biggest downside is that players will have to share the lineup with other talent and likely spend some time at the bottom of the lineup. But keepimproving the player in Road to the Showand before long, players will be a star with a cast of characters that can’t possibly lose in October.
Milwaukee Brewers
It’s a tough ask to get from 74 to 77 OVR. This can take a few precious months to climb and those are months where deadlines are passing by. But competition is fierce for catchers, so sometimes it will be necessary to wait a year or two until the MLB club finally recognizes the gem they’ve got on their hands.

The Milwaukee Brewers are a great landing spot, possessing a superior starting rotation, one of the best bullpens in baseball, and a lineup with no other position player under 72. Best of all, without anybody stealing the show, catchers here can easily find themselves in the heart of the order.
New York Mets
The Mets are one catcher away from winning it all when the leaves start to turn. The rest of the team is a jaw-dropping 79 or better at the positions and that’s not mentioning their starting rotation that boasts the two top-rated starters in the game.
The bullpen also holds up with an 82 OVR closer ready to slam the door. It’s almost criminal for them to be one piece short of a title. New York is a great place to join for a freebie championship or two early in the player’s career.
MLB The Show 22was released on April 5th, 2022, and is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5.
