Gamers understand the importance of statistics. Those who playMLB The Show 22are well aware that bats with extra power and contact will help them hit better. But even the best-geared players will be severely hampered if they’ve got a hitting setting that doesn’t work for them.
Of course, all of this comes down to whatever works best for the player. While some players might find success and insist upon one way to hit inMLB The Show 22, others might succeed better doing something else. Feel free to practice, but this should give players a good idea of what they want.
Directional
Directional hitting presents itself as the default setting and for a good reason. Hitters that use this will tilt in the direction of the ball, isolating one of nine zones (eight along the edges and the center). If the ball is in that area and the swing time is right, then solid contact is guaranteed.

Directional hitting isn’t as precise as Zone hitting, so a ball that is in between zones might present a problem. Though with high enough attributes andequipping the right gear, getting close enough or on the edge of a ball will likely be enough to make some solid contact.
Zone
It doesn’t get more precise than Zone hitting. Players can move their cursor all around the strike zone and swing anywhere that the ball happens to cross. Being able to hit a ball anywhere in the zone and perfectly center it up presents some obvious advantages and can be a component of quicklyimproving a player in Road to the Show.

The skill it takes can present a serious downside. Those with low contact numbers will find themselves missing the ball entirely, even if they were somewhat close to the ball’s final location. And there is a finesse required for exact targeting that Zone hitters don’t need to deal with.
Timing
Timing is as straightforward as it gets, simply swing when the ball enters the zone, and targeting has been removed. This presents a very serious weakness against high-level opponents since this leaves the corners of the plate unprotected and pitches low in the zone will often result in ground ball outs.
However, players can predict pitches to help with this a bit. Brand new players to this franchise will likely see this as way too easy; this is a mode recommended for people who don’t play video games in general.
MLB The Show 22was released on April 5th, 2022, and is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5.
