Mob Psycho 100is back for a third season and things are just starting to heat up. One of the best characters in the series, Arataka Reigen, has evolved as the story went on. He went from a straight-up con artist to one more sympathetic to his student’s, Mob, exploits.

It’s good to see that Mob is not the only character that has grown throughout this series. Reigen is definitely more of a comedic character than a badass psychic like Mob but that doesn’t mean he is completely powerless inMob Psycho 100. These techniques are some of the best he has demonstrated so far in the anime. There will be spoilers.
8Salt Splash
Reigen uses salt for a variety of his special attacks. Salt Splash is the very first technique he uses in the first episode ofMob Psycho 100to ward off a ghost. He finds out that table salt does not hurt ghosts though which should be obvious even to a con man.
Despite that, Reigen uses salt again in the first episode this time with a Salt Punch. This ghost remains unfazed as wellbut thankfully Mobis there to help his master out.
7Graphic Exorcism
This name maythrow anime enthusiastsoff as it might seem like a grotesque technique. The graphic in the title in this case refers to computer graphics. Reigen cons this couple by saying he will rid their lives of any spirits or that is at least assumed because it happens offscreen.
The proof will be with their photos as he promises they will vanish when he is done. What he doesn’t explain to them is that he is merely using a Photoshop equivalent to erase these demons and ghosts from their memories.
6Sorcery Crush
Reigen has two different massage-related moves he uses on his clients. The first is in episode two ofMob Psycho 100wherein he uses Sorcery Crush to “ward” away evil spirits. Theclient wasn’t possessedat all so thankfully this massage tactic worked.

The other example comes later in season one, episode eight, with a female client complaining about her shoulder. Reigen uses rock salt and a few massage techniques to purify her body in an attack he calls Aroma Runaway Express. Both “attacks” seem to have equal power as far as making clients feel refreshed.
5Cheeseburger Tornado
In episode six ofMob Psycho 100, a client comes in asking Reigen to contacthis dead father. At first, things seem to be going well. The two are having a heartfelt exchange until gears change and the son starts yelling at Reigen/his father because he wants to know the safe combo.
Since Reigen isn’t channeling this man’s father for real, he has to think on the spot. All of Reigen’s improv bits aren’t working, so he decides to uppercut the man instead yelling, “Cheeseburger Tornado.” Reigen got this move from a TV show, presumably something along the lines ofPower Rangers.
4Anti-Esper Dropkick
Reigen is not a weak man by any stretch even if heisn’t an Esper. He’s not a bodybuilder but he can knock a thug out or two if cornered. When things look dark in episode eleven of season one, Reigen comes charging out of nowhere and lands a dropkick on the seventh division leader of Claw, Ishiguro.
It knocks him out for a spell and right after Reigen is able to sucker another Claw member, Muraki, with his patented Hypnosis Punch. Both attacks fall along the same lines of surprise attacking an opponent presumably followed by running away. These two attacks don’t win the fight overall, but it does buy Mob and the others some time to recover.
3Anti-Possession Jumping Knee Strike
This technique is one of the funniest in the anime. It’s in the fourth episode of season two whereinall of the psychicsin town are called out to exorcise a young girl who has been possessed. When this ghost starts flying around, trying to manipulate other people, Reigen performs his technique to an older psychic by the name of Kirin Jodo.

This knee to the stomach was so hard that Jodo plotted revenge against Reigen for the pain he suffered. It’s technically Jodo’s fault for not noticing this powerful spirit in the first place. Reigen was just trying to help.
2Self Defense Rush
Ryo is one of the strongest Espers inMob Psycho 100. It takes almost a whole dozen psychics to take him down due to his overcharged teleportation technique. Reigen manages to slip in an attack when Ryo isn’t looking and screams “self-defense rush.”
This creates some sort of plausible deniability in Reigen’s head to help him get out of legal trouble if anyone asks why he hit Ryo. At this point in the episode, it should be clear to Reigen that Ryo is a villain and that the police would look the other way for his sucker punch. Analysis aside, it is a funny scene.
1Charisma
Reigen’s greatest special isn’t even one that is clearly stated in the anime. The charisma thatflows out of his is what makes him a great character. With it, he is able to get out of any situation which makes him highly adaptable.
Luck is also on his side which Dimple makes a joke of toward the end of season two. Eventually, his luck may run out and he could die a horrible death as Dimple predicts but in the meantime he has Mob to lean on.
