The SPAS was first seen inModern Warfare 2(2009) and became a fan-favorite shotgun choice. Both weapons were featured in numerousCall of Dutytitles, but the Kar98k hasn’t been sinceVanguard, and the SPAS has been missing sinceBlack Ops Cold War.
Call of Dutydataminer BobNetworkUK, who recently leakedModern Warfare 3’s unreleased parkour map, claimed to find files that reference new, codenamed weapons like the “kappa98” and “spapa12.” AfterBobNetworkUK’s revealgained traction, some speculated that these codenames are in reference to the Kar98k and SPAS-12. If this speculation is accurate, these weapons will possibly be added in a futureModern Warfare 3update. Other codenamed weapons that the dataminer found include the “pcharlie9,” which is speculated to be the PC9 Carbine or P90, and the “kpappa50,” which is possibly the Keltec P50.
The Kar98k and SPAS-12 Could Be Returning to Call of Duty
The two classic weapons would make for solid headliners in a futureModern Warfare 3battle pass.Call of Duty’s recent Season 3 updateintroduced the FJX Horus SMG and MORS sniper rifle, which can be unlocked by progressing through certain tiers in the new pass. Free-to-play users shouldn’t be frustrated by this, asCall of Duty’s newest DLC weapons are always available in the free tiers of each battle pass.
Leading up to Vanguard’s 2021 release, fans also got to utilize theKar98k in a previous iteration ofWarzonewhere it was classified as a marksman rifle instead of a sniper. The potentialModern Warfare 3version of the weapon would probably be quite similar to theWarzoneedition, which proved to be pretty popular in the earlier days ofCall of Duty’s battle royale.
