Plenty ofMonster Hunternews has released as of late, both for the video game series and the upcoming film. Fans were excited to see the reveal of the Switch-exclusiveMonster Hunter Risea few weeks back, and today theMonster Huntermovie has received an official teaser trailer.

Though theMonster Huntermovie was delayed until 2021, this newest teaser aims to keep people thinking about the movie and discussing it until its release. Actor Milla Jovovich is being joined by director Paul W.S. Anderson, with both being best known for their work in the movie adaptations for theResident Evilgames. While not accurate to the source material, theResident Evilfilms made plenty of money and certainly have their fans, and theMonster Huntermovie seems to be taking a similar approach based on this latest teaser.

The teaser quickly confirms elements fromMonster Hunter’s controversial synopsis, with the characters doing much more “surviving” than “hunting.” Milla Jovovich’s character and a few others are being attacked in a desert by a massive monster, which should be familiar to fans who have played the games as it is none other than Diablos giving chase. The closing seconds of the short teaser see the lead actor shouting “fire” as she unleashes a minigun on the creature. While the short clip differentiates quite a bit from the games that it shares a title with, Diablos appears accurate to the source material based on its design and the way it leaps out from the sand.

Though the movie features a visually accurate Diablos anda few popularMonster Hunterweapons, the movie is unlikely to please hardcore fans of the series based on the teaser’s like to dislike ratio on YouTube. With modern guns and vehicles being combined with Great Hunter’s Bows and Jawblades,Monster Hunteris an odd mix of a video game and action movie that will likely contain some plot holes and inconsistencies. Still, with the star power attached and a wild premise that guarantees plenty of fighting and explosions, the movie will probably prove successful at the box office next year.

As far as theMonster Huntergames are concerned, though,Monster Hunter Worldwill be getting Halloween contentsoon. With the content set to be the last free update forWorld, many players will likely be saying goodbye to the challenging and popular co-op game soon. Still, withMonster Hunter RiseandMonster Hunter Stories 2set to release for the Nintendo Switch, fans of the series will have a fair bit of content to enjoy even thoughWorldupdates are ending and the upcoming movie is not very faithful to the games.

For those who did not mind the teaser, or even enjoyed it, the news that Milla Jovovich could be returning asAlice in aResident EvilNetflix seriesshould be exciting. ForMonster Hunterfans who had their worries confirmed regarding the movie and left dislikes on the trailer, at least there is solidarity in the fact thatMonster Hunteris not the only game franchise to get this kind of live action treatment.

TheMonster Huntermovie will be released this December.
