MultiVersusis a free-to-play crossover fighting game developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment featuring various characters from the Warner Bros. Discovery catalog, including those from Warner Bros., DC Comics, HBO, Turner Entertainment, and Cartoon Network.MultiVersusis a platform fighter game in which players battle on different stages and attempt to knock their opponents outside the boundaries of the arena, similar to Nintendo’sSuper Smash Brothersfranchise.
Characters inMultiVersusare divided into five different categories: assassin, bruiser, mage, support, and tank, which will all be familiar character tropes for players that have played fighters, battle royales, or even role-playing games in the past. As early access to the game progresses and the Open Beta begins, players are excited to find out the different characters that get added to the growing roster.

So, as the open beta begins,MultiVersusreleases the roster for its first free-to-play character rotation as well as a list of patch notes (which are detailed at the bottom of this article). Also, theyintroduce LeBron James from theSpace Jamuniverseas the first basketball-wielding character to join the roster. The list of free characters in this rotation (July 26 to August 8) are:
Finn the human is fromtheAdventure Timeuniverseand is classified as an assassin character. Garnet is fromSteven Universeand is classified as a bruiser character. Superman comes from the DC universe and is classified as a tank. And finally, Reindog is an originalMultiVersuscharacter and is classified as a support character.
The update also includes a note that says that from now until August 8, there will be a 25% increase in gold earned from winning matches, incentivizing players to download the game and get started on theirMultiVersusjourney. Though someplayers aren’t happy withMultiVersus' early access, as the game continues to grow and evolve in its open beta, there will be many changes and gamers can look forward to seeing more characters, new stages, bug fixes, and many other improvements.
