A mysterious unannounced upcomingPlayStationgame has just leaked, featuring an impressively oversized creature made of ooze and, according to sources, running on Unreal Engine 5. It’s hardly a secret that Sony has a number of potentially exclusive titles and all-new IPs currently in production, but finding out any specifics about these games has been impossible up until now.
Having built up an impressive roster of console exclusives over the past decade or so that are only now being trickle-launched on PC,PlayStationseemingly aims to continue leveraging strategy for the foreseeable future. More specifically, the newly leaked ooze-themed title seemingly promises to tackle the action RPG niche, implying that it may be Sony’s response to games such asOutridersandGears of War, judging by the available footage.

Similar in nature and format toHorizon: Forbidden West’s own leaked alpha footage, the untitled ooze game appears to be an over-the-shoulder shooter with mindbogglingly massive enemies. Having initially leaked via IconEra, popular leaker Dusk Golem subsequently commented on the Unreal Engine 5 ooze game leak by adding more context. Namely, Dusk Golem claims that this sci-fi ARPG is already way further along in the development pipeline than the leaked footage may imply, and that it is already fully voice acted by now.
Further, Dusk Golem has also said that he had seen way more footage of the ooze game than was shown in IconEra’s leak and that he is looking forward to the developers showing it off in proper form. While it’s been implied thatSony may be working on AR gamesin the background, its primary focus clearly still lies in producing high-end AAA experiences for the PlayStation, and it’s possible (if not likely) that the newly leaked game will be used as a headliner in this respect, given its use of Unreal Engine 5 and the interesting-looking creature shown off in the leak.
There have been plenty of Sony and PlayStation gaming leaks as of late, it may be worth pointing out. In December 2022, it was leaked thatThe Last of Us 3is being made. While it’s always worth keeping a pinch of salt at hand in regard to these discussions, it’s also exceedingly likely that the company would look to use its blockbuster IPs to the most of its ability, andTLOUis an obvious contender in this respect.
As for Sony’s ooze game, specifically, there’s just too little information out in the wild to surmise much more about it. The notion that it’s a UE5 game is certainly very promising, though. As fan projects such as the recentUnreal Engine 5Max Payne 2remakeplainly show just how powerful and flexible this particular software suite is, and using it to render immense, oozing monstrosities seems like an obvious course of action.
