The God Slayerwas announced alongside its 2027 release window and some impressive-looking screenshots that were shared by Gematsu. WhileThe God Slayeris an original IP, the game’s developer may be familiar to some fans. Its developer, Pathea Games, previously released the generally well-received life sim/RPGMy Time at Portia, and are actively working on the co-op sequel,My Time at Sandrock. WithPathea currently busy working onMy Time at Sandrock, it makes sense thatThe God Slayeris still years away from release.
It’s likely thatGod Slayerwill at least be a PS5 console exclusive, so fans can already look forward to a potential PS5 exclusive for 2027. Official court documents have suggested that thenext generation of consoles won’t release until 2028, so it’s likely that 2027 will have some other PS5 exclusive games on offer as well. However, chances are good that fans will have to wait until we’re much closer to that year before the rest of it starts filling up.
Sony likes to keep things focused on the more immediate future when it comes to its new game releases. Right now,it’s heavily marketing PS5 exclusive gameSpider-Man 2, and not much has been announced when it comes to the first-party PlayStation lineup for 2024. That doesn’t mean that there’s nothing on the way. On the contrary, Sony certainly has big games in the works for 2024 and beyond, but fans will just have to wait a while to see what’s in store. For now, they can play current PS5 games while keepingThe God Slayerin the back of their mind for its 2027 release.
