Starting onMario Day, it will be on display at the Nintendo NYC store. The showcase of the boots was on a first-come, first-served basis, where Nintendo fans lined up to see the hero’s shoes in a special glass case display specifically for it. Not only that, the shoes themselves were made in collaboration between Nintendo, Illumination, and Red Wing Shoes.

According to a post from Red Wing Shoes, these boots were created using both “legacy methods” and current materials to bring them to life. They were constructed using the exact same leather as Red Wing’s other shoes, having a reinforced toe box and rounded heel, likely to accommodate both plumbing and Goomba stomping. The heel pad specifically is also claimed to be made from mushroom-based materials in order to simulateMario’s abilities. An entire three-minute video on Red Wings’ website also shows the building of these boots.

It should be noted that these are for display only, and that theseSuper Mario Bros. Movie-themed boots aren’t for sale. These shoes will likely be available to see at Nintendo NYC even after the movie’s premiere, though currently the display is only for those who line up first. The movie trailer itself was also praised for the attention to detail, along with being a visual labor of love that carried several years of Mario’s history around it.
