One of the biggest announcements from Nintendo in recent months was the reveal of the upcomingNintendo Switch OLED. This is a brand new model of the current console, and it has many improvements. Some of these include a new OLED screen, 64 GB of storage, and a built-in Ethernet port on the dock. These would help to give better images when being played handheld, along with better audio quality too. With the console launching early next month,the Switch OLED consolehas been put on display so Japanese fans can get an early look at it.
When Nintendo’s new console was announced, fans were both excited and somewhat skeptical of the upgrade. A lot of the rumors at that time were thepossibility of a “Switch Pro” model, as opposed to the minor enhancements that were made with the OLED model. Regardless, this new iteration of the console is still a hotly sought after item, as the Nintendo Switch is still a very popular console. With some fans being able to see it for themselves publically, their comments certainly make it seem like the upgrade is worth it.

The Switch OLED is currently on display at a few Japanese retailers. One of them is Nintendo’s Tokyo Store, where some Japanese fans were able to take some pictures of the console. They were also able to get a feel for the new model of the Switch, with the overall feedback towards the new model being positive. The color on display at Nintendo Tokyo wasthe sleek white OLED model, and while the pictures might not be able to capture the overall feeling, fans were able to notice the differences.
Much of the praise was directed towards the new screen, where the newSwitch’s display is much more vibrant compared to the old model. Other praise was directed towards the size, as the console takes advantage of the bigger screen to showcase better visuals. Some of the photos taken also showcase how each model differs by comparing it to previously released ones, like the Switch Lite.
Some of the games being demo’d with these public displays includeSplatoon 2,Mario Kart 8 DeluxeandMetroid Dread. The latter will be releasing the exact same day as the Switch OLED model, so this game will be able to takeadvantage of the OLED’s new features. With this first public showing of the new console, it’s already proving to be a hit and worth the upgrade in the eyes of many.
