Among the many interesting questions that fans posed to Oda, there was one related to the Awakening ofTrafalgar Law’s Ope Ope no Miand its Awakened powers.
How Law Awakened His Devil Fruit
InOne Piece’sWano arc, fans finally got to see Law in action once again when he teamed up with Kidto take down the Yonko Big Mom.While Law and Kid were no match for Big Mom individually, together, they posed a bit of a threat to her. Initially, this fight was incredibly hard for them even though they teamed up. However, realizing that they weren’t getting far without going all out, both Law and Kid decided to use their Awakened Devil Fruit powers. It was a bit of a surprise for the fans to see that both Kid and Law had their abilities already Awakened. How exactly they Awakened it and when it happened isn’t known to the fans. Kid had likely Awakened his powers before Wano and the same holds true for Law. What fans can say for sure is that Law didn’t have his powers Awakened during Dressrosa, so it had to have happened at some point after this arc.
Nonetheless, Law has continued to grow stronger andthe power of his Awakeningshone during his clash against Big Mom. When Law was at his limit, he decided to go all out and burn through his remaining stamina using the powers of the Ope Ope no Mi. According to him, however, using this power means that he is on his last legs and won’t be able to fight for an extended period of time. Laws Awakening is his last resort which he doesn’t like relying on usually.
How The Ope Ope no Mi Awakening Works
Being a Paramecia Devil Fruit, one would expect the Ope Ope no Mi to follow standard Awakening procedure and, in one way, it certainly does. However, it might be a bit more confusing for the fans to understand how the Awakening of Ope Ope no Mi works. Simply put Law’s Devil Fruit allows him to create giant ROOMs to operate inside, since he is a doctor. In these ROOMs, he can control almost anything. For instance, Law can easily manipulate the terrain within his ROOMs. He can manipulate any object inside the rooms and, if the Haki of any person within his room is weak enough, he can manipulate them and their bodies however he wants as well.
The Awakened powers of the Ope Ope no Mi take this a step beyond. Fans see him coat his sword, Kikoku, in one of his rooms when he uses his Awakened powers and then attack through it. While this version of Paramecia Awakening appears to be quite confusing to the fans, Oda went on to explain it himself.
According to Oda, the K in “KROOM” stands for Knife, implying that his awakening allows his sword to act on his behalf and deliver lethal blows. In essence, Law can use his Devil Fruit powers from afar by using his sword as a remote. By coating his sword in the KROOM, Lock can manipulate the sword as he wants. He can stretch his sword, or deliver powerful shockwaves without actually being present inside the room. He can simply stretch his sword to wherever he wants it to go and then operate using it.
While, on the surface, this might look different from normal Awakenings, it actually follows the normal laws of Paramecia Awakenings very well. Paramecia Awakenings allow the user to spread their powers to their surroundings, taking them a step beyond. In the case of Law, instead of just restricting his powers to the ROOMs that he creates, Awakening allows him to spread his powers beyond and operate without being inside his ROOMs. He can simply coat his sword in KROOM and then manipulate it accordingly.
By using the sword from afar, Law can deliver some very lethal blows to his enemies, which makes him stronger than ever before.

RE-ROOM, on the other hand, allows Law to create a Remote Room. The “RE” in “RE-ROOM” stands for departure or distance. This also follows the standard Awakening procedure as it allows Law to create a ROOM that he can manipulate from afar, as seen when he enclosed Big Mom in it and took away her voice.
Law can use the power of RE-ROOM similarly to the Nagi Nagi no Mi. This means that Law can essentially create ROOMs within which he can eliminate elements such as sound completely. He used this ability against Big Mom to stop her voice from propagating and reaching Misery. He then proceeded to slice Misery in half as she could not be ordered by Big Mom any longer. Looking at it, Law’s Devil Fruit powers are incredibly overpowered when Awakened.
The Power Of The Ope Ope no Mi Awakening
The Ope Ope no Mi is believed to be one of the strongest Devil Fruits to ever exist in the world ofOne Piece. It is termed as the Ultimate Devil Fruit and it is not surprising for the fans to see that this fruit, when Awakened, becomes extremely overpowered. When Law used it against Big Mom, he coated his sword in KROOM and then managed to use an ability known as Anesthesia. With this power, Law could pierce right through Big Mom’s skin without actually making an incision. This allowed him to target her internal organs and then deliver powerful shockwaves from within, where she had no defense in place. This ability caused Big Mom to spurt quite a lot of blood and, what’s more, even Big Mom recognized his techniques to be very dangerous as the shockwaves broke her ribs as well as her arm.
Law’s power can then be taken a step beyond through a technique known as Puncture Wille. When using this power, Law pushed his sword right through Big Mom and then through the entirety of Onigashima, all the way down to the underground magma pit in Wano. He then delivered a powerful shockwave that put Big Mom on her last legs and the strength of this technology just goes to show that his Awakening isn’t for show. Law becomes incredibly overpowered when he taps into his Awakened powers and the overpowered nature of this fruit shines all the more.
Law also used his Awakened powers against Blackbeard when the two clashed and delivered some serious injuries to him as well. Even though he ended up losing the fight, as was expected, Law put up an admirable battle against the Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates. Fans have not seen the full extent of his Awakened Devil Fruit powers, however, if Law does return at some point in the future, fans will surely get to see what else is in his arsenal.
