Fans ofOverwatch 2andMetal Gear Solidhave come up with a few ideas on how both games could potentially have a crossover. Considering how a cyborg ninja isone ofOverwatch 2’s most iconic characters- something thatMetal Gear Solidis known for having several of in the form of Gray Fox and Raiden, as well as similarities between several characters in both series - a collaboration between them would not be that far-fetched.

Overwatch 2is no longer a stranger to collaborations with other works of media. Considering thatOverwatch 2is collaborating with the animeOne-Punch Man, developer Blizzard is clearly willing to have events built around properties that might not be the first titles to come to mind for most fans. To some, a collaboration like this opens up the possibility of other games or shows receiving an event revolving around them.

One speculative fan who goes by erncolin on Reddit has posted their ideas on how a collaboration betweenMetal Gear SolidandOverwatch 2could potentially work, posting pictures showing characters from both games with similar features. Notable concepts include Big Boss’s appearance inMetal Gear Solid 4being a skin for Soldier 76, especially given their remarkably similar beards and appearance in age, and Revolver Ocelot being one for Cassidy since both use a six-shooter as their weapon of choice and have a Wild West aesthetic. The post has garnered a good amount of attention, sitting at around 6,500 upvotes, and many of the top comments have their own suggestions. Several people commenting have suggested that instead of a skin based on The Sorrow for Sigma, as shown in the post, he should get one based on Psycho Mantis. Erncolin even agrees with this, adding in one response that Sigma’s personality would fit that character better. IfKonami has plans forMetal Gear Solid, taking the fan suggestions and collaborating with Blizzard in a game as popular asOverwatch 2would help garner attention from fans and potential newcomers alike.

Although it has not released many games over the past several years,Konami has acknowledged demands for newCastlevaniagames after the release of theDead CellsDLC that crosses over with the vampire-hunting game. Should a similar route be taken withMetal Gear Solid, it would help to revitalize the series and revive some of the popularity it had years ago.

Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
