Many experiencedOverwatch 2players are well aware that playing support is usually no easy task, and a brief yet funny moment from the game shows why supports should always keep their eyes open for enemy players eager to catch them unaware. Taking out a team’s healers is always a priority, butOverwatch 2’s considerable alterations to the core gameplay formula have proven to make the support experience that much more of a challenge - and at times, an outright horror experience.

Of course, one of thebiggest changes thatOverwatch 2madeto the original game’s recipe is the shift from 6v6 combat to 5v5. This is a much bigger deal than it may seem, and while there are still two damage heroes and two support heroes per team, there is now only one tank. This is particularly consequential for support players, who have that much less protection on the battlefield nowadays. Combined withOverwatch 2’s even faster-paced combat than the original and the emphasis on dive heroes, support players are finding themselves treated as prey more often than not.

Though flanking heroes such as Reaper and Tracer often make matches a nightmare for healer enthusiasts, one fan of the game has shared a hilarious video featuring a different type of horror movie moment inOverwatch 2. Captured and posted on Reddit by the user MustangCraft, the clip shows a Baptiste and his allied Zenyatta retreating after a teamfight that ended in defeat, only for the Zenyatta to suddenly be hooked and dragged away behind a corner in the blink of an eye. Being hunted by the enemy team is all toofamiliar an experience for many support players inOverwatch 2, which explains the popularity of the clip on social media.

Though their task is almost always a stressful one, support heroes have become a lot more powerful inOverwatch 2in many ways. A steady supply of healing makes the difference in every fight, andOverwatch 2has shown the role plenty of love by introducing several new support heroes since its release. Kiriko and Lifeweaver are each powerful in their own rights with both heroes bringing a few interesting new abilities to the game, but the next season ofOverwatch 2promises to bring in yet another support characterthat fans have yet to get a proper look at.

Though Season 6 and its mysterious new hero are still a couple of months away,Overwatch 2’s latest season is still fresh out of the oven. Season 5 is no doubt a controversial one, and while it adds back the fan-favorite “on fire” feature from the original game, it has also seen the revival of CC abilities in the form of Mei changes and some drastic alterations to Cassidy’s throwable magnetic grenade.

Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
