One player has shared clips online of Cassidy, a hero fromOverwatch 2, and his grenade ability’s insanely overpowered tracking. Cassidy is a damage role hero, with various abilities including a dodge roll and the aforementioned magnetized grenade. The ability allows for players to throw the grenade, which then locks on to nearby players before exploding. While the range on the grenade isn’t as far as other hero abilities, such as Roadhog’s hook chain, it still manages to be quite overpowered inOverwatch 2multiplayer.

Cassidy is a returningOverwatchcharacter who was featured in the first entry to Blizzard’s hero shooter franchise. While most of the character’s abilities have remained the same since his debut in the originalOverwatch, his flash bang attack has notably been swapped for a tracking magnetized grenade. The original ability only stunned players, canceling their attacks, and did around 25 damage. The new grenade tracks enemies and does up to 131 damage to the player it latches on to, causingheavy debate amongOverwatch 2players. OneOverwatch 2player took to Reddit to share various clips of them using Cassidy’s new grenade attack and its insanely strong magnetism.

Reddit user Ephoriks shared clips online of their gameplay as Cassidy, focusing on how his tracking grenade seems almost unreasonably strong. In the various clips you can see the grenade track enemies around corners and up staircases, and from over ten meters away. Ephoriks' gameplay is a blatant view into why some fans arefrustrated with Cassidy’s new ability.

The Reddit post helps identify some of the current issues withOverwatch 2balancing, and why some fans might be upset with the changes made from the game’s predecessor. One fan in the comments notes that the attack is the “most annoying ability in the game, I’d much rather him have his stun back at this point.” Another fan jokingly comments “Cassidy’s grenade is better at hitting targets than his ult.” While some of the comments are clearly meant as jokes, it’s pretty apparent that there is a sense of resentment among fansaboutOverwatch 2balancing.

Overwatch 2is usually well-balanced, but there are some notable exceptions whenever you consider certain characters like Cassidy orBastion and other overpowered characters. Cassidy’s tracking grenade is just the latest example of insanely overpowered abilities withinOverwatch 2, and how some fans are reasonably upset with them. Although Blizzard has yet to state whether it’ll be changing Cassidy’s ability in the future, a nerf to the damage hero wouldn’t be a surprise to many players of the hero shooter.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
