Players are busy exploringWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlandsand mining it for content. There arePenitent Hunts to go on, Skyward Bells to find, and above all, Anima to absorb. However, not every new feature inWorld of Warcraftis being found in the Shadowlands themselves.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlandsleans into its story more than other expansions. For this it deserves some praise, but any veteran ofWorld of Warcraftcan attest that there is more going on in the game surrounding the main story. Players often hunt for smaller references or Easter eggs overlooked by the main story inWorld of Warcraft, and one player has found a fun one.

Instead of grinding out Renown for a Covenant, player Jay3 found something elseto do at Level 60. He took a trip to the Hall of Valor, which has existed in the game sinceWrath of the Lich King. It has next to nothing to do with theShadowlandsexpansion, but it does have two figures hanging around named King Bjorn and King Torb. These two oddly named kings appear to be a reference to Torbjorn, one of the original heroes inOverwatch.
This was a delight for Jay3, anOverwatchplayer and streamer himself, and a nice Easter egg overall. Blizzard tends to have crossovers between its games in various forms, although this one is slightly unorthodox. One of the strangest parts is that the two kings are not dwarves, despite Torbjorn’s resemblance toWorld of Warcraft’s dwarves. That there are two of them may be a comment onhow best to play Torbjorn: Being in a few places at once by means of turrets. The hammer one king wields could also be a reference to Torbjorn’s forging hammer.
This is only the latest in a long line ofWorld of WarcraftEaster eggs.World of Warcraftis very oldin terms of ongoing video games, and it has been sprinkling in Easter eggs since the very beginning. Some famous ones transcend other games, extending into references to real people, often Blizzard super fans.
Whether or not this will be the onlyOverwatchEaster egg to feature prominently inWoWis up in the air. WithOverwatch 2presumably drawing closer, there could be more. It’s unlikely there will be a full crossover, so players will have to turn to something likeSkyrimmods to experienceOverwatchin a high fantasy setting.
