However, there’s a workaround that replicates manual saving (with a bit of extra pain in the thumb), and this guide has that covered. Here’s how to save inPentimentdespite the auto-save barrier.

To load a save file in Pentiment, head to the title screen and select “New Game,” then press Y on “Old Saves.” This will show a list of recent auto-saves that players can load. There’s usually a short gap between each file, so it’s not ideal for replaying older chapters.
How to Save in Pentiment
To save the progress in Pentiment,trigger an auto-save by entering or leaving an area.Usually, transactions cause an instant save, which can be accessed on the title screen under the Old Saves button. Unfortunately, that’s the only way to save inPentiment, and the game has no manual saving options.
Conversations are another auto-save trigger inPentiment, but the downside is that they happen when the dialogue is over. So, it’s not a viable choice for save-scumming.

To save scum inPentiment, quit the game in the middle of a dialogue. Then, go to the title screen and choose “New Game.” Finally, select “Old Saves” and load the most recent auto-save slot.
The save-scum strategy inPentimentworks only if players are fast enough to interrupt auto-save. That’s because the game tends to save the progress right after the conversations, making it almost impossible to reload the same quest.
