Ichiko Ohya is the Devil confidant ofPersona 5 Royal. Players will meet herearly on during the Madarame case, but her confidant events are locked until late June.
Unfortunately, Ohya isn’t the most useful confidant in the game. In both the original game andPersona 5 Royal, her abilities are connected to the Palace Security Level, a game mechanic that most players don’t struggle with. Still, it’s not hard to max out all the nighttime confidants, plus Ohya’s story is closely tied to the plot, and so players should still pursue this confidant even if it’s not the most rewarding.

General Information
In the Tarot deck, the Devil Arcana portrays a devil looming over a male and a female whom the devil holds in chains. Its meanings include temptation, an unexpected failure or downfall, and self-destruction. In the reverse position, the Devil indicates a release from bondage and the overcoming of difficulties.
Ohya spends everyMonday,Tuesday,Thursday, andFridayevening in the Crossroads bar in Shinjuku. Her availability doesn’t change based on holidays or school days, and since most of her events take place in the bar, she won’t disappear because of rain or other bad weather.
Ohya often needs more relationship points than what her ranking events provide, so Joker can spend time with her or invite her out to locations that players have unlocked. By taking her to Ginza, Joker will get theSushi Teacup(really more of a mug) room decoration. Players can get extra points on outings by giving her gifts, and her favorites are theHeart Ring,Omni-Vitamin,Fountain Pen,Digital Camera, andBlaring Alarm Clock.
Ohya is also a possible romance option. Players can spend Christmas Eve with her to get aCamera, and by carrying this item into a New Game Plus players will get extra points with her from the same-Arcana bonus. Inviting Ohya on Valentine’s Day will get JokerOhya’s Chocolate, an item that restores one character’s SP to full. She’s also available for a date on White Day.

Joker will speak to Ohya on 6/18during his investigation into Kaneshiro, and starting on 6/23 she becomes available for ranking events. During the rank 1 event, Ohya agrees to give the Phantom Thieves good publicity in exchange for Joker’s stories about them. Players won’t need a Devil Persona for the first rank, but the numbers listed in the rest of this guide will assume Joker has one in stock.
For starting this confidant, Joker gets the rewardRumor-Filled Scoop. This lowers the Palace Security Level when players unlock a new safe room. Jokeralso gets amedium Charm boostby picking up a few journalism tips.

Ohya lets slip a little more about her past and complains about her boss, the Chief.
Aside from anothermedium Charm boost, this rank unlocksShocking Scoop. In Palaces, the Security Level now goes up by less when Shadows spot Joker and goes down by more when Joker ambushes a Shadow.

Rank 4
This event takes place just outside Crossroads, so it isn’t available on rainy days. The Chief has caught Ohya sneaking around, so she quickly makes up an excuse that involves Joker.
This rank comes with anothermedium Charm boost.
Rank 5
Ohya looks into Joker’s past, but in exchange she opens up about her former partner Kayo.
No Charm boost for this rank, but Joker does getUnprecedented Scoop. This means the Palace Security Level will start at 20 percent instead of 40 percent.
Rank 6
The Chief decides to double Ohya’s workload to keep her too busy to investigate Kayo, but she’s not about to give up.

Ohya is closing in on Kayo’s location, but the Chief shows up to attempt to intimidate her into backing off.
This rank comes with alarge Charm boostandOutrageous Scoop. The Palace Security Level will now start at 0 instead of 20 percent.

Instead of a new rank, the next event will give Jokerthe Mementos request “Fighting for Truth in Journalism.“Ohya is struggling under her tripled workload, and her last lead dried up when the Chief leaned on them.
To fulfill this request, players must find the Chief’s Shadow in Kaitul Area 9. His Shadow is Take-Minakata, and while he drains or nulls many magic elements he’s weak to Wind and vulnerable to Physical and Gun skills. After the fight, he drops anInvigorate 3 Skill Card.

Once the Chief decides to help Ohya, she quickly finds Kayo. It’s not all good news, though.
No new scoops, but this rank does provide anotherlarge Charm boost.
