Thanks to the publicly available roadmap forPhasmophobia, the developers have confirmed that a new prison level is currently being created for the wildly popular horror game.

Though Halloween has passed,Phasmophobiacontinues to be a huge hit among Twitch streamers and viewers, following suit in an unexpected surge of popularity the same was thatAmong Usdid on the streaming platform. Now the developers over atKinetic Games have had to remap some of its plansfor future content updates by listening in on what fans want to see down the line.

Pulling four teammates together to hunt ghosts, mostPhasmophobiamaps consist of houses, creating a somewhat redundant mix of options for players in terms of format, though there are currently asylum and high school maps that add some variation in size. This has led fans ofPhasmophobiato ask for more unique locationsfor ghost hunting, such as mansions, cemeteries, churches, and hotels. Luckily, Kinetic is actively listening to player feedback and has its Trello task log publicly available online.

The developer’s tasks are split up into categories such as “Known Bugs,” “To Do,” and “Backlog,” and underneath “In Progress,” is the task to “make a prison level,” insinuating that Kinetic is currently working on the new map design. Unfortunately, all that was posted to Twitter was a simple screenshot of the task on Trello with no other information given, so specifics of the map are not yet known. However, it’s likely that the prison map will be a similar size to the large asylum level.

It’s not surprising that the horror game put a prison level in the works after being so highly suggested; prisons are not only common locations for horror games but abandoned ones are often visited by ghost hunters in real life. However, there are some complaints and issues that fans have pointed out that come with bigger map designs, butKinetic is open to fan feedback and concerns. It even leaves the comment section open on its tasklist for players to continue offering advice and suggestions. One top-commenter would like to have the option to play with more than three friends inPhasmophobia, which would be helpful in the larger maps.

Going forward, there’s a lot of player suggestions that Kinetic can take from for newPhasmophobiamaps, such as carnivals, ships, and forest campsites, that couldkeep the co-op game’s momentum going. Many indie horror games fall in popularity after Halloween, but perhaps the multiplayer will continue to keep fans interested in the same way thatP.T.andAmnesiabecame cult classics.
