The third evolution follows the logical progression of the Pokemon, going from a simple balloon to a hot air balloon-like Pokemon, and now to a blimp. The third form maintains its key characteristics, like the markings on its face, and the dangling hearts return from Drifloon after disappearing when it evolves to Drifblim.
Considering thelore behind Drifloon, it’s a bit disconcerting to consider the third form here. Drifblim is said to levitate due to being filled with souls filled with regret, which serve as the gas in its hot air balloon-like design. With the third evolution blimp design being much larger and requiring more fuel to maintain its shape, it’s presumably accumulated far more souls.Pokemonfans have also suggested that this version of the Pokemon would be capable of kidnapping entire schools' worth of children, as its base form is known for carrying kids off into the afterlife.
Could Drifloon Get a Third Evolution?
Not every Pokemon in the franchise gets a third evolution; some actually lack any evolutions at all. It would be quite interesting to see Drifloon get an update to its evolutionary tree, and withPokemon Legends: Z-Abringing back Mega Evolutions, it’s possible that it could get a new form in the upcoming game. However, there’s a lot of competition that reduces its chances. Tons of Pokemon in the course of the series have yet to receive Mega Evolutions, and it’s unknown how many the developers plan to introduce with the next game.
The nice thing about thePokemonseries, though, is that the games often revisit older Pokemon long after they were introduced. Even if Drifloon sees no updates inPokemon Legends: Z-A, it’s possible a future entry to the franchise could give it a third evolution.
