Pokemon GOplayers are currently sharing screenshots of their boxes in the game’s shop, confused as to why their offerings are so drastically different from one another. As Niantic’s hit mobile title continues to grow, there’s naturally going to be some adjustments to keep the game performing well. This includes its offerings in thePokemon GOshop.
Previously, Niantic added aDaily Box toPokemon GOthat gave fans different rewards that were randomized each day. Where one fan would manage to get a Premium Battle Pass, two Metal Coats, and a Dragon Scale for free, other players would be disappointed to only receive standard Poke Balls and Potions. At the very least, this box was not only refreshed every day, but it was also given to fans for free.

Now, fans have been posting images of their more standard options that costPokeCoins inPokemon GO. While some likely shared their images to promote great deals and good hauls of items they needed, one player has posted on Reddit revealing that their boxes are entirely different from the other ones they’ve been seeing on the platform. The player, going by the username The_Space_Monkey, had a “Hatch Box” of five incubators and some incense for 500 PokeCoins, and a “Great Box” of 10 TMs for 1,100 PokeCoins.
Other players in the comments agree that the contents of the Great Box in particular is puzzling, as TMs are fairly easy to get from spinning PokeStops. If someone decided to pay real money for The_Space_Monkey’s box, it would cost players just under $10 dollars. One other fan has shared what they’ve gotten in the same “Great Box,” which is a much better deal of 10 Star Pieces, 10 Poffins, and 10 Lucky Eggs.
This inspired The_Space_Monkey to look into these discrepancies, and so far there’s a rumor going around thatPokemon GO’sboxes are decidedbased on the user’s app store. However, other fans have come forward to say that the boxes either never change for them or are different from what other users of the same app store have gotten. It’s hard to say exactly what the cause is, and Niantic has yet to update players about this change.
There may be a chance that these new personalized boxes are only being test-run with certain players, and fans will be able to know if these changes are permanent next time new features are added to the game. AsPokemon GO’sTeam Up Raid featuremay be added in the future, these boxes may become more common once that update arrives. These new boxes might only find their way to other players if they sell well within the small group who can purchase them currently.
