Players can find all manners of resources from the eggs that spawn on top of Gyms. At specific times, a Raid will begin, and the egg will hatch, thus providing players with a bountiful opportunity to prove themselves as the very best Pokémon Trainer inPokémon GO.
What Is A Raid Egg?
A Raid Egg inPokémon GOis essentially the starting point of a Raid to entice players to swarm to the location of a Gym and await the hatching of a said egg. Raid Eggs are sometimes the only way to obtain Pokémon, such as the best Legendary Pokémon, and even some different and rare Pokémon from across different Regions.
When playerslocate a Gym, they might see a Raid egg appear at a random time, and then a countdown will begin. Once this countdown is finished, the Raid egg will hatch, and the Pokémon inside will be revealed. Once the Pokémon is revealed, players have a limited amount of time to begin and battle the Pokémon champion.

Players can use the bottom right of their app to click and see the nearby Pokémon. On this menu screen, players can then click the “Raid” tab, which will show them all the nearby Raids available. This menu will show hatched eggs, and those that are unhatched, along with the time that is left to complete the Raid or get ready for one. However, there are multiple variants of Raid Eggs, ranging from 4 different colors,indicating the rarity of the Pokémon, the difficulty of the battle, and the time that is set for the attack.
However, Players will need a Battle Pass or a Remote Raid Pass to access the fight, and it’s best to find a team of allies or random Pokémon Trainers to take downthe meaner enemies of the gamefor a chance of capturing the Pokémon inside. Raid Passes can be purchased with the in-game currency Pokécoins, which require real-world money.
How Long Do Raid Eggs Appear For?
Considering that Raid Battles can only occur at Pokémon Gyms, players might want to be aware that these can only happen between the hours of 5 AM and 7:45 PM local time. Raid Eggs will hatch, with the time window for said Raid being available for 45 minutes. Depending on the rarity and the event of the Raid, this time could be increased.

Once inside a Raid Battle players will have 3 minutes toclash their Pokémonagainst the boss that spawned from the Raid Egg. If players are worried about losing, their Pokémon can be revived with their items after the fight, and each fight can have up to 20 Trainers, so it’s usually a winnable situation, but not alone.
What Is In The Raid Egg?
ForPokémon GOplayers, each week is a new adventure. Players can expect a bi-weekly change of Pokémon thatfeature in the Raid Eggacross the multiple different tiers. There will always be a list of current Raid bosses inPokémon GO, with 4 common Pokémon being available for Tier 1 and 2, 4 different Pokémon for Tier 3 and 4, one weekly Legendary Pokémon for Tier 5, and a new Mega Pokémon for the Mega Raid.
Normal Raid Eggs
The first and easiest Raid Egg players might find is the Normal Raid Egg. This is indicated by the pink color of its shell. Players can expect Level 1 and Level 2 Pokémon to hatch from these eggs, and they are far easier to battle than the other Raid Eggs that exist for the higher Tiers. Level 1 and 2 Pokémon are manageable with a decent team, and players can expect a common supply of easy-to-find Pokémon within. Hopefully it’s nota useless Magikarp.
Rare Raid Eggs
If players find themselves walking past a yellow egg, then they have found a Gym holding a Rare Raid Egg event. Within this Level 3 and Level 4 Raid, players will find more Evolved Pokémon. Although they might not be the best, it’s often good to fight these Pokémon with a team, or alone, to try and obtain a bounty of rewards, Stardust, and XP from the battle that awaits the player.
Legendary Raid Eggs
Easily one of the best Raids that players should strive towards, the Legendary Raid Eggs are Level 5 events that will see a silver and black egg waiting to hatch. The Level 5 Raid Egg is always aguaranteed Legendary Pokémon, with a shiny potential behind the awarding capture screen. The Legendary Raid Egg is a must for Pokémon Trainers that want to collect them all, but players will need a team to take on each Legendary Boss.
