A modder has released a specialRed Dead Redemption 2mod that emulates a proper, full-fledged New Game+ mode that Rockstar Games never got around to releasing for its legendary Wild West adventure. Though it’s certainly one of the biggest, most detailed open-world games on the market, some players still wish to playRDR2from the start with everything unlocked, and that is now possible thanks to a mod.

With players still discoveringcoolRed Dead Redemption 2detailseven after hundreds of hours of gameplay, it’s clear that the game will stay popular for ages to come, and that’s precisely where modders come into the picture. On PC, modders can enable new features, implement new content, or even revamp key aspects of a given game, and thoughRDR2isn’t particularly mod-friendly as such, much can still be accomplished.

One such accomplishment comes fromRed Dead Redemption 2modder sezzco, who successfully enabled something like a New Game+ option into the game. Simply called “Red Dead Redemption 2 New Game Plus,” sezzco’s mod is, at its core, a custom save game built specifically to enable as many features and as much content as possible, from the very start of the game. Due to the nature of certain unlocks, such as the Master Hunter Holster, sezzco couldn’t enable them for Arthur Morgan early on, as doing so would irrevocably break the game. Instead, the modder set the save game up to be as close to 100% completion as possible, allowing players to essentially play New Game+ without Rockstar Games officially releasing the feature.

Sezzco’s mod is, granted, a bit janky in its execution, but Rockstar-produced video games aren’t nearly as easy to mod as, say, Bethesda RPGs have historically been. This makes modding a far more complicated and involved process. Still, the “New Game Plus” mod should allow players to go ham with aweird playthrough ofRed Dead Redemption 2after presumably completing the main story at least once to see what the game is all about.

Curiously,Starfieldhas already been compared toRDR2by the game’s own director, Todd Howard, when discussing the sci-fi RPG’s general flow and feel. This, combined with the fact that Bethesda is deliberately underlining the vastness of space with hundreds of barren planets for players to explore, suggests that the studio’s next flagship may emulate the vibe accomplished by Rockstar, which would be a very interesting approach.

It’s almost guaranteed that people will attempt to mod Wild West content intoStarfieldin due time. In the interim,Red Dead Redemption 2has its own collection of curiosities for players to check out, such as the mod thatturnsRed Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur into a vampire. Originally released to celebrate Halloween in-game, the outfit is still available for anyone to download, and it’s worth it for the moustache alone.

Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
