Summary
Let’s be honest,Remnant 2is not a game that holds the player’s hands, for better and for worse. The first game,Remnant: From the Asheswas much the same but this game feels like it stepped it up even more with even more Status Effects not being explained in the game, all the hidden events through each world, and of course thehidden Archetype that was ‘designed’ to be datamined.

All that said, there are plenty of nifty little features and mechanics in this game, so let’s look at some of the ones that a lot of the player base surroundingRemnant 2likely aren’t aware of.
7Hide Helmet By Turning It Off In The Options Menu
At this point in the gaming ecosystem, it’s almost more offensive not to include a ‘Hide Helmet’ option in games that have a variety of different armor sets to equip. But, it’s still worth acknowledging thatRemnant 2does have an option for this, so the character that players create in the beginning doesn’t entirely go unseen. Now if only they could include an option to hide that backpack, the combinations of armor sets that players could discover in this game to look fantastic would be almost infinite.
6Hover Over Buff Icons In The Character Menu For More Information
Granted, while not a lot of Keywords inRemnant 2(AKA the all-caps color-coded words in Item/Perk descriptions) are well-explained, as longas the player can find a way to apply that Status Effect, buff, or general Keyword to themselves, they can typically find out what it does.
To do this, whenever any effect is currently active on the player character, if they go into the Character Menu and hover over the effect’s icon in the top left, it’ll describe what it does in detail, just keep in mind that any numbers or percentages in pure white text (instead of grey) likely scale based on some other stat in the game, be it weapon upgrade level or a certain Trait, so those numbers will likely increase or decrease at some point.
5Teach Mudtooth All The Concoction Recipes
Remnant 2absolutely is a game that is both respectful to new players and respectful to longtime fans. The game is approachable to the general gaming audience, the community is very welcoming to new players, and even those who haven’t playedRemnant: From the Asheswill still finda lot of the lore and references to previous gamesto be very interesting.

For example, new players may not recognize Mudtooth or Brabus in Ward 13, but veteran fans assuredly will. And, unlike the first game, Mudtooth has more to offer as an NPC Merchant now than just one simple Stew and one single Concoction. If players come to him with any Concoction they find still in their inventory, Mudtooth will then be able to recreate that Concoction and sell it at his own shop for 500 Scrap, which is typically cheaper than what it would cost to get that same Concoction anywhere else.
4Start A New Character As A Hidden Archetype
Whilea lot of the Archetypes hidden throughoutRemnant 2have already been spoiled, since people sort of need to to make guides on how to unlock them, a lot of people still don’t know that, after unlocking the Archetype, they can create any new character with that Archetype as their Starting Class.
Additionally, these hidden Archetypes aren’t restricted to the ‘Host’ player in any lobby, so players can join their friends who areabout to unlock say, the Archon, and get it for themselves as well.
3Hold Ping Button For Every Emotes Specific Informational Pings
Out of everything on here, this next feature is probably the ‘smallest’, but it’s one that even a lot of the early-access players seemed to have missed. The Ping input is useful in just about every game it’s ever been a feature in, but especially so inRemnant 2, given all the secret paths, elite enemies that players should probably target first,and the general difficulty of the game overall.

However, sometimes players want to use an emote to denote something (given that this game lacks both a voice and text chat) or they’ll want to use a more ‘specialized’ ping. To do this, all players need to do is hold down the ping input to bring up a Radial Menu that gives them access to a couple of different types of Pings that call out Ammo Types or call out nearby allies to follow them as well as each and every emote available in the game.
2Inspect Items To Solve Puzzles Or Discover Secrets
Next up is something brand new to the Remnant series, or at least if it was inRemnant: From the Ashes, it was barely ever used. The feature in question is the ‘Inspect’ function, which not only serves to give players a high-fidelity look at all their gear (guns, melee weapons, rings, and more) but also allows them to ‘interact’ with certain items to find secrets, change the function of that item, and more.
For example, if players want to gain access to a certain chest in Ward 13, it might be worth inspecting the flashlight that Ford gives them. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like the developers overuse this concept, but it is used a fair few times, even in the tutorial, so it’s worth keeping in mind when players are stuck on certain puzzles.
1Get A Quick & Easy Recap Of The Previous Game
And lastly, let’s just give a bit of kudos to the developers at Gunfire Games for pretty naturally giving players a way to get a recap on the events ofRemnant: From the Asheswithin the world ofRemnant 2. To find this, players can speak with any number of NPCs in Ward 13, from McAbe to Bo (Reggie probably covers the most out of anyone) and basically exhaust all their dialog options.
In doing so, these NPCs will often recount what happened in the first game (not includingChronos: Before the Ashes) from their point of view. Not only is this helpful for those who haven’t played Remnant in a long time (or are new to the series), but it’s also funny to seehow every NPC remembers these events slightly differently. For example, Mudtooth is still under the misunderstanding that Bo, the mayor of Ward 13, is the one who put an ‘end’ to the Root at the end ofRemnant: From the Ashes’last DLC.
