The upcomingResident Evil 3remake is set to launch in just about four months, so the game is nearing the end of its development cycle. In case one needed any more evidence of this, the Steam page for theResident Evil 3remake has revealed the number of achievements that will be in the game, indicating that they likely have been finalized.
According to theResident Evil 3remake Steam page, the game will have 32 achievements. As noted by RelyOnHorror, this is nine achievements less than what theResident Evil 2remakelaunched with earlier this year. This could be an indication that theResident Evil 3remake will be shorter thanResident Evil 2, but there is something else to keep in mind when it comes to theRE3remake achievements.

Resident Evil 2features two distinct playable characters and multiple scenarios for each one. Considering this, it’s not surprising that the game has more achievements than theResident Evil 3remake, which mainly follows Jill Valentine throughout the entire thing. It’s possibleCapcom will let fans play as Carlos a bit morethan they did in the original release, but even so, it’s unlikely it will be anywhere near the scope of Leon and Claire’s separate campaigns.
While some fans may be disappointed at the number ofResident Evil 3remake achievements since it’s less than what was inRE2, there’s something else to keep in mind. TheResident Evil 3remake comes packed-in with theasymmetric multiplayer gameResident Evil: Resistance, which will have its own separate achievement list. Considering this, there should be many more achievements to unlock inResident Evil 3remake when taking the multiplayer component into account.
Capcom’s decision to separate the achievement lists for theResident Evil 3remake andResident Evil: Resistanceis an interesting choice and may indicate thatResistancewill get a standalone release as well. Maybe Capcom will even launch it as a free-to-play game alongsideResident Evil 3remake to ensure that its online multiplayer stays populated. That being said, Capcom hasn’t announced any plans to releaseResident Evil: Resistanceseparately, so fans should keep their expectations in check.
