When it comes to Capcom, it seems as though the company’s mission to make sure fans can play through the entireResident Evilseries on any platform imaginable. As part of that effort, Capcom just recently launchedResident Evil 5and6on the Nintendo Switch. In addition to theResident Evil 5and6Switch ports, Capcom has also released a patch for the game that adds new features.
In the day one patch forResident Evil 5and6on the Switch, Capcom has added gyroscopic aiming and motion controls. These features are of course optional, but it’s worth pointing out that theResident Evil 4Wii port earned quite a bit of praise for its aiming and motion controls back in the day. In fact, there are many who consider theResident Evil 4Wii version to be the definitive way to experience the game. Whether or notResident Evil 5and6get similar praise remains to be seen, however.

The addition of gyroscopic aiming and motion controls toResident Evil 5and6on Switchwill no doubt be appreciated by fans. After all, they add at least something new to the games, which are otherwise direct ports of the originalResident Evil 5and6. ForResident Evilfans who haven’t played these games in awhile or who simply want them on the go, these optional control schemes could very well be what convinces them to pull the trigger.
That being said, those who plan on buyingResident Evil 5and6on the Switch should keep in mind that the games may have performance issues on the system. TheResident Evil 5and6Switch demos had some bad technical problems, with both games really struggling to maintain their frame rates during busy action sequences. It’s possible that these issues have been ironed out since then or that these fixes will be a part of the day one patch, but fans may want to look into that before they commit to a purchase.
Resident Evil 5and6join otherResident Evilgames that have already made their way to the Switch, likeResident Evil 0, theResident EvilHD remaster, and more. It’s possible Capcom will bring even moreResident Evilgames to the Switch in the future if these titles all sell well, but we’ll have to wait and see on that front.
