Resident Evilwas considered a series in decline not too long ago, only to be revived with the astoundingly popularResident Evil 7. Now everyone’swondering whether or notResidentEvilVillagewill get DLCand, most importantly, where the franchise will go next.
The most recent games have departed a fair bit from the originalResident Evilformula, but several elements have stayed the same. The Umbrella Corporation is still involved somehow, biomutations continue to result in terrifying monsters, and the architecture still holds strange puzzles. On top of all that, one particular motif continues to resurface in the series in one form or another.

There are aton of secrets to uncover inResident Evil, and starting with the first game, this included investigating statues and artwork. One room in the originalResident Evilheld multiple pieces along the walls, and one prominent statue in the middle. Bearing the name “Woman Drawing Water,” it depicts a woman with an urn, although she looks more like she’s pouring one out. One fan took note of this statue, and then noted how it appears a lot inResident Eviltitles. Not the exact statue itself, but rather the motif of the woman and the urn.
It appears as a statue in all three of the first games, although not quite as prominently as inResident Evil’s display room. It also appears in theResident Evil 2remake, again not used for any puzzle. It even shows up inResident Evil Village, not assome of the awesome concept art, but as a random statue. Finally, it appears carved into a “Maiden Medallion.” While never given a name beyond “Woman Drawing Water,” it’s speculated that this is meant to be the representation of Aquarius, the constellation, which shows a woman pouring water from an urn.
While there’s no specifics given about the motif, it seems unlikely that it would continue to appear without meaning anything. There are a few interpretations that one can draw from the statue, one being that it represents the main characters. In every game, someone is pouring out life amidst the living death around them, usually the player’s character. There are some othercrazy specific details inResident Evilgames, so it’s not a huge stretch.
One other way to look at it though, a more sinister way, is that this Aquarius represents Umbrella itself, or perhaps the man controlling it. After all, Umbrella was founded, supposedly, to bring new life to the world and shape it to the Umbrella CEO’s vision. Aquarius represents the outpouring of knowledge and life, like Umbrella was supposed to do. If that’s true, it makes this statue one of thescariest women in theResident Evilfranchise.
