Rockstar sent a gift package to aRed Dead Onlineplayer who spent 6,000 hours enjoying the Western-themed action-adventure game on Stadia. The online version ofRed Dead Redemption 2launched in beta in 2018, and for many players, it quickly became an entertaining time sink. It allows fans to remain immersed in the realistic, highly detailed world even after completing the single-player campaign.Unfortunately those who purchasedRed Dead Redemption 2on Google’s cloud gaming service will have to migrate elsewhere, as Stadia’s service shuts down on January 18 one minute before midnight. Many gamers were understandably upset at the announcement and concerned about their save files. ItsColourTV, a worriedRed Dead Onlineplayer with 6,000 hoursin the game, excitedly shared that Rockstar had reached out to him with reassurance that saved items could be transferred from Stadia to a different platform.RELATED:Red Dead Redemption 2 Player Notices Incredible Detail About US FlagWith the official ending date of Google Stadia now arrived, ItsColourTV revealed that he had been sent a gift box from Rockstar as a thank you for the many, many hours he put intoRed Dead Onlineon the platform. Later that day, ItsColourTV unboxed the gift during a YouTube livestream to show the generous array of items he received.

All of the items were decorated with either theRed Dead Redemption 2logo, the Rockstar logo, or both, and most had a red and black theme. There were two bags, a large mug, foldable leather tray, two candles, a bottle opener, stickers, a couple of mousepads, keychains, a variety of t-shirts, and some detailed pins of various weapons from the game. ItsColourTV also received a steel model kit for the sawed-off shotgun, which players can assemble themselves. The highlight of the lot was a brown leather jacket that resembles the oneworn by Arthur Morgan inRed Dead Redemption 2.

A few times during the livestream, ItsColourTV expressed regret that Google Stadia would be coming to an end. Though the service seemed to struggle to find footing in the gaming landscape from the very beginning, many people enjoyed it and found it to be of good quality. The announcement of its shutdown also came as a surprise becauseGoogle had denied Stadia’s imminent shutdown just a few months before. Even studios actively developing games for the platform were caught unawares.

Luckily, those who invested money in the service will be getting refunds for games, DLC, and controllers. People are not expected to return the hardware, however, and theBluetooth support on Google Stadia controllers was unlockedso that they can easily be used on other platforms.

Red Dead Redemption 2is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
