Call of Duty: Vanguarddoesn’t launch until November 5, butCall of Dutyfans are already looking ahead to the next entry in the series. To that end, details have been leaking online about the 2022Call of Dutygame, rumored to be titledCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. And now the latest rumors have teased whatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2may have in store for theCall of Duty: Warzonebattle royale.
According to a report by VGC, citing unnamed sources, it seems thatCall of Duty: Warzonemay be getting a new map in 2022 to coincide with the launch ofModern Warfare 2. Apparently, this newCall of Duty: Warzonemap will feature iconic locations from the originalModern Warfare 2, as opposed to being a completely unique and original BR map as seen in theWarzonePacific map Caldera.

It’s expected that this newCall of Duty: Warzonemap will replace Caldera when it launches, just asCaldera is replacing Verdansk, though it’s unclear if that will actually happen or not. Again, fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt and as usual, wait for official details from Activision.
As for when those official details will come, it will likely be at least a year or so beforeCall of Duty: Warzonefans learn about a potentialModern Warfare 2-themed battle royale map. Activision just recently shared details on theCaldera battle royale map coming toCall of Duty: Warzonein December, and so it will likely be quite some time before there is any info on this leaked map.
The VGC report comes hot off the heels of other leaks surroundingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. According to those leaks,Modern Warfare 2will have realistic gore in its campaign, as well as aPT-style game mode. The VGC report downplays thePTrumor, but does say that there is some truth to the “realistic gore” claims when it comes to theMW2campaign.
Ultimately, fans will have to wait for the officialCall of Duty2022reveal to be sure of anything, and that likely won’t happen until next summer at the earliest. If pastCall of Dutygames are any indication, fans will likely have to sift through a ton of leaks between now and when next year’s game is revealed, so it will be interesting to see what’s true and what’s not when it’s all said and done.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
