Rumors have been swirling for quite some time that WB Games Montreal is hard at work on a newBatmanvideo game. WB Games Montreal’sBatmangame has yet to be officially announced, but the general consensus seems to be that it will be based on the Court of Owls storyline from the comic books. However, some more details about the game may have been revealed by a prominent leaker, including its title as well as a hint at its playable characters.
According to Sabi, who has accurately leaked many things about the video game industry in the past, has suggested on Twitter that the newBatmangame will be calledBatman: Arkham Legacy. They followed this up with, “The stuff about the playable family seems to be legit,” suggesting that players will be taking control of more than just Batman in the new game. In the comics, the Bat “family” consists ofcharacters like Batgirl, Nightwing, and Robin, so maybe they will all be featured as playable characters inBatman: Arkham Legacy.

The title suggested by Sabi,Arkham"Legacy," does seem to lend itself to this theory. It may also be an indication thatBatman won’t be in the newBatmangame, with it instead focusing on other Bat family characters, aka his “legacy.” This may depend on when the game is set, though it would be surprising to see aBatmanvideo game without the titular character as a playable character.
Besides the hints that thenewBatmangame will be based on the Court of Owls storyline, there isn’t much else we know about the rumored project. It seems as though an announcement for the game is always expected at every upcoming gaming event, only for nothing to actually happen.
The next big gaming event isThe Game Awards in December. It’s possible that an announcement forBatman: Arkham Legacywill be announced then. But if not, maybe it’s being saved to be showcased alongside one of the upcoming next-generation consoles, or maybe fans will have to wait all the way until next year’s E3 event to learn more about the project.
