A modder has now made it possible to destroy certain environmental items inSkyrim, giving players a chance to unleash the fury on a select few world details. Despitehow immersiveThe Elder Scrolls 5is, it could always stand to have that extra bit of immersion added to it. Given its age and general issues when it comes to bugs, there are some aspects of the game that can easily take a player out of the experience, but this is where the modding community comes to the rescue.
There are already plenty ofmods forSkyrimthat improve immersion, such as implementing the need for the Dragonborn to eat, drink, and sleep. Over the past 11 years, there have been many ways to add that feeling of realism while wandering around Tamriel, and more mods are coming out all the time. One such example addresses concerns that many may have had over the past decade or so: it not being possible to actually break any items in the environment itself.

However, as spotted by DSO Gaming, user OddCoward has the solution for anySkyrimplayer who wants to break barrels and other things. Their mod, which is called “Destructible Skyrim - Base Object Swapper,” aims to marry an immersive experience with the ability to destroy items in the world. A video shows the player breaking through wooden barrels with a large sword, but the description on Nexus Mods says that items can also be blown up and Shouted at. In its current state, the items that are affected include the aforementioned barrels, standard chairs, some Nordic pots and urns, as well as some tables and bookshelves.
By now, most players are aware that the best way to experienceTES5is to install one or a few of themanySkyrimmodsthat are available, and OddCoward’s is just one in a sea of many. While not all mods go to great lengths to improve immersion, they all add a little something to the 2011 epic RPG that gives the title its notorious longevity.
