The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimpresents players with a wide variety of challenges, some of which are more intentional than others. The game is well known for its timeless mechanics and complex, sprawling world, but it’s also notorious for its bugs. Recently, oneSkyrimplayer ran afoul of a very bug when they accidentally landed on a dragonfly.

Apparently, a number of the insects that can be found inSkyrimhave hitboxes. Some players havetaken advantage of this to shoot down beehives, but solitary dragonflies can be harder to notice. One player managed to accidentally jump on top of one without realizing it was there until it was too late to leap off.

Redditor East_Good2732 shared a 10-second-long video showcasing an incident where they accidentally landed on top of a dragonfly and the dragonfly kept flying. This isn’t the first time aSkyrimplayer has ended up flying on an animal, but it may be one of the silliest. The video shows the player standing on top of the unseen insect for several seconds as the dragonfly soars across the game world.

After about six seconds of surprisingly peaceful flight, the player abruptly falls from the dragonfly’s back. Although it’s difficult to tell what the dragonfly was doing through all of this due to its small size, the fall is far enough that the player is killed instantly. Apparently, this incident occurred because insects in Skyrim have hitboxes, which can lead tohilarious encounters with players and other in-game items. Reportedly, bees also have hitboxes, which has led to some issues with carriages running into individual bees and causing their programming to get confused.

Many fans find this video hilarious. A significant number of users responded by declaring that the video provedSkyrim’s dragonflies are to the Dragonborn what theDragonborn is to dragons. According to East_Good2732, this was the first time they died during that saved game, which could make this event even more embarrassing. One user noted that it was possible to do this with birds, too, and stated that they’d surfed over Solitude on the back of a bird before. Another user shared that another riding bird could be found near Bleak Falls Barrow. Another conversation began wondering why so many insects had collision turned on.
