Spring has arrived and with it another majorXboxsales event. The Xbox Spring Sale is offering discounts of up to 80% off Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S games on hundreds of games, bundles, and DLC. As is becoming a tradition for Xbox holiday events, someXboxplayers will also be getting a special gift in the mail. Several Xbox users have confirmed that Xbox is once again sending out gift cards, seemingly at random.Multiple Xbox users have shared on social media that they’ve receivedgift cards from Xboxvia the email associated with their Xbox accounts. It seems like the amount given has consistently been $5. There is one catch, however. The gift cards will expire if they aren’t used by July 16 later this year. That’s quite a ways away, but could be easy to miss if Xbox users don’t regularly shop digitally.
$5 may not go so far, but it will go further due to the ongoing Xbox Spring sale. Games includingForza Horizon 5,Call of Duty: Vanguard,WWE 2K22, andHalo Infiniteare discounted. There are also plenty of games that cost just $5, for those who don’t want to spend any money whatsoever. These games includeResident Evil 2,Sunset Overdrive,Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor,Halo 5: Guardians, andDoom 3. The sale ends in 12 days, around April 21.
This isn’t the first time that Xbox has done such giveaways. It’s becoming a regular event when Xbox holds big sales. The most recent example washoliday 2021, with Xbox sending out gift cards valued at up to $100 to random Xbox and Microsoft Store users. It’s unclear if the giveaways are entirely random, or if Xbox is using an algorithm to deliver gift cards to valued shoppers or those it believes are more likely to spend money during its sales.
$5 may not go very far these days, but it’s still $5 that Microsoft didn’t have to send out to certain Xbox users. It’s a nice touch and a fun way of doing advertising for theXbox Spring Salethat directly benefitsXboxusers.
