Whenwizards fly across the map launching boulders, blasting fireballs, and whipping up tornadoes Avatar style,Spellbreakis at its best. With developers, Proletariat, planninga constant stream of game updates, it’s important that breakers figure out the basics before too much changes. No matter the changes on the way, players will recognize the dynamic gameplay, the unique weaponry, and the potential fun instantly upon entering their first match.

Free to play games are hugeright now. AndSpellbreakis making waves among them. But what are these weapons, the gauntlets? And what do they do? Each of the six different gauntlets contains the magical power of the six existing elements in the game; fire, toxic, lightning, stone, frost, and wind. Each gauntlet has its strengths and weaknesses, and can truly change how the game is played. With unique attack styles, special sorceries, and class bonuses, each gauntlet will have new players feeling like a master wizard in no time.

6The Stone Gauntlet

None ofthe six gauntlets inSpellbreakare bad. Especially not the stone gauntlet. However, it is also the easiest to counter. Many new players will gravitate to the stone gauntlet because of its high base spell damage of 30 on the common gauntlet variety, low cooldown time of 10 seconds for its sorcery (chucking a giant boulder through the air towards a chosen target), and overall ease of use. The stone gauntlet’s main spell, Shockwave, sends a wave of rippling earth in a straight line wherever the player is aiming, moving through other spells and sorceries cast by opponents.

While all of this is well and good, the stone gauntlet is easily countered by flying and attacking in the air or by attacking from a different level (an easy feat inSpellbreak’smany castles ruins and burned down houses). Ultimately, players should watch out for stone gauntlet users, but understand how to counter them, and if a suitable battle location isn’t available, use a solid mobility rune and skedaddle out of there.

5The Lightning Gauntlet

Lighting inSpellbreakis a little overpowered depending on what system players are using and the level of their aim assist. For PC players using a controller, the lightning gauntlet is one of the most powerful in the game at the moment (aim assist is in the process of being adjusted, so don’t count on this strategy forever). For everyone else, the lightning gauntlet can only be described as unwieldy. With a burst of lightning bolts, each dealing 6 to 8 damage, as the gauntlet’s main spell, players will need solid accuracy to really get the most out of this gauntlet. The lightning sorcery rains lightning down from the heavens, dealing large damage and shocking opponents. This sorcery is very strong if players can land a hit, especially as the class levels up adding more lighting strikes in the final circle. Ultimately, however, this gauntlet relies too heavily on aim assist, and without this feature, players should think twice about picking up a lightning gauntlet.

4The Toxic Gauntlet

The toxic gauntlet is strong inSpellbreak, and it is made even more powerful by the benefits of the Toxicologist class. With the incredible potential for short-ranged combat and toxic puddles that quickly drain enemy health and armor, toxic is no laughing matter. The Toxicologist class is built around invisibility and sneak attacks to take advantage of toxic’s unique terrain advantages. In tight castle corridors or narrow trenches, toxic is nearly unbeatable. On top of that, adding flames to toxic clouds creates a dragon fire effect that deals massive damage to any players nearby. This also has some major pitfalls, however.

The invisibility perk for the toxicologist class depends on players sneaking through their toxic cloud sorceries. This can be tricky, as flame users will nearly always lob a fireball or two into toxic clouds to trap and damage other players. This makes it hard for toxicologists to use their invisibility clouds safely. Additionally, at far distances, the toxic gauntlet is easily outclassed by almost every other spell, and with mobility being such a huge factor for gameplay, it’s hard to keep enemies within deadly range.

3The Wind Gauntlet

Wind is a tricky element to judge inSpellbreak. Overall, the wind gauntlet makes a pretty poor secondary. With spells that deal the least damage of any element and sorcery that does no damage on its own, it’s hard to see why any breaker would use this gauntlet inthe magic filled battle royale. However, what really makes the wind gauntlet shine is its added mobility and power when paired with other elements. The level up perks for the tempest class turn pesky tornados into bountiful wind gusts that propel the player through the air, further, all spell damage is increased, and spell cost is reduced significantly. For players who are able to master the mobility of the tempest class, and combine this skill with a featherfall or flight rune and a legendary fire or frost gauntlet, they might just be unstoppable.

2The Frost Gauntlet

Snipers inclassic battle royales like Warzone and PUBGoffer a huge risk and reward. Incredibly high damage paired with long-range accuracy can be a deadly combination at the cost of close-up maneuverability.Spellbreak’stake on snipers is the Frostborn class, which makes the sniping capabilities of the frost gauntlet nearly unstoppable at range. With the ability to float in mid-air while aiming and helpful red highlights around any visible enemies, the frost gauntlet transforms from a traditional sniper into a pin-point killing machine. The frost gauntlet sorcery also plays an important role in the gauntlet’s utility. Casting flash freeze will create a bubble of freezing energy that slows opponents and turns them to ice if they’ve been stuck in the bubble for too long. This has two large benefits. Firstly, it makes enemies much easier to hit with the ice lance, but it also creates a window of opportunity that players can use to escape dangerous and tight situations where the frost gauntlet struggles. Overall, if players can master the high damage capabilities of the frost gauntlet, it will be an incredible tool for them as they work towards the final circle.

1The Fire Gauntlet

The fire gauntlet is the best gauntlet inSpellbreakright now. With powerful spells and sorceries in fireball and flame wall, dynamic pairing with almost every element, and solid ranged and close-up capabilities, this gauntlet is one that every player should be using. A base fireball that deals 25 damage on a direct hit means that dropping down next to an enemy at the beginning of the game will only take 4 good hits to exile them right away. This doesn’t include any lingering fire damage or damage from flame spots the fireballs create when they hit the ground.

All of this is powerful, but what really sets the fire gauntlet apart is its elemental interactions. Creating dragon fire when combined with toxic, steamy cover when combined with ice, fire tornados when combined with wind, and flaming earth when combined with stone, the fire gauntlet pairs incredibly well with just about every gauntlet players can pick up along the way. Overall, the fire gauntlet encompasses everything that makesSpellbreakfeel so good to play.
