If the series is moving forward with future iterations, however, it will be doing so without one of the team’s key players.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier broke the news that director Stig Asmussen is leaving Respawn Entertainment and EA after directing two major successes inStar Wars Jedi: SurvivorandFallen Order. EA confirmed this report and stated, “Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures.”
EA claims “veteran Respawn leaders” will be stepping up in the absence of Asmussen. While a new entry in the series has yet to be confirmed, athirdStar Wars Jedigame would not be a surpriseas both titles before it were extremely successful. Things are looking good for fans hoping to see more in the series as Respawn Entertainment has posted job listings for a Principal Game Writer. Asmussen has expressed the desire to do a trilogy of games, but if and when that does happen, he will no longer be with this franchise.
Asmussen isn’t just a veteran at EA, as the director has been in the industry for decades and even worked on the originalGod of Wartrilogy. Still, the absence of Asmussen will allow for others to step up if a newStar Wars Jedititle is indeed happening.EA CEO claims Respawn is working on some exciting unannounced projects, but it is unclear if this is referring to another entry in theStar Wars Jedifranchise.
Last-generation console owners still haven’t gotten the opportunity to play the game yet, butStar Wars Jedi: SurvivorPS4 and Xbox One versions are currently in development. Gamers are still unsure when to expect those as EA has still not provided a release date or window. Either way, the porting of previous-generation console versions might not hinder the development of a potential third game in the franchise. That said, the team seemingly continues to be hard at work optimizing the current version of the game as a new update was released in early September.
