Starfieldadds planetary exploration alongside Bethesda’s open-world style RPG gameplay. Players can spend a lot of time simply exploring the galaxy for credits, XP, and resources. The main character joins Constellation at the beginning ofStarfield’sstory, a group that sees itself at the forefront of scientific exploration for the greater good.
In the basement of the Constellation Lodge, players can pick up randomly generated missionsfrom the mission board. The most arduous tasks are the ones that require players to find a specific planet trait in an entire star system. This means they will have to search the whole system until they find it. However, there are a few things to look out for when trying to locate a planet with theGlobal Glacial Recession trait.

Planet Traits
Most planets inStarfieldwill have a set of traits. These are different from the regular scans on planets and require the player to explore further. The number of traits will be displayed on the right side of the screen under resources whenscanning a planet from orbit. Skipany planets that don’t have traits.Gas and ice giants will also not have any traits and are impossible to land on anyway.
Some moons will have traits, and it’s good to keep this in mind while searching. Select them in their orbits while looking at a planet to travel to them.If an entire system hasn’t had the correct trait it’s time to search moons. The number of moons will be displayed in the top left of the screen when viewing a system.
Search for Melted Glaciers
The Global Glacial Recession trait will be found by seeking out points of interest on planets. Bring up the scanner using the LB button and search for unknown points that look like a lifeline or a waypoint symbol. Click the A button on the symbol to reveal it.This trait pertains to the Geology of a given planet so search only for natural interest points.
The specific point of interest players need to find is a Melted Glacier. This trait indicates the planet has been through violent temperature changes. Scan the large Glacial Remnant to complete the mission for immediate payment.Do not search in frozen biomes as chances are there will not be any Melted Glaciers.Clicking on a spot in the planet viewer will revealwhat biome the player is landing in.
As these missions are procedurally generated, the system to search in may differ. If players are told to search the Olympus system, they should explore themoon of Aion called Dionysusto find Glacial Remnants. Otherwise, players can use these tips to narrow down their hunt in other star systems.
