Summary
The eternal Bethesda question of bug or feature continues, as aStarfieldplayer comes across a planet filled entirely with invisible creatures. Though there are hundreds ofprocedurally generated planets inStarfieldfor players to explore, the flora and fauna are predetermined. Not only does this make looking for resources more convenient, but it also lets the community establish a database of what players can expect when they land on a world, set off in a random direction, and begin their survey.
Surveying planets inStarfieldis a useful way to make some credits when starting out, but for the most part, the tried and true method of selling rare weapons in a Bethesda game givesStarfieldplayers more credits than they know what to do with. The ship builder can be an expensive pastime, but even its costs eventually get outclassed by the time characters reach Level 30. That being said, going on an interstellar safari run can yield an amazing amount of experience, and so many players inStarfieldturn to hunting alien beasts in the wilderness to level up.
For Azuras-Becky, their session of surveying Newton III was interrupted by a herd of cloaked animals. AStarfieldplanet capable of supporting life, Newton III has a small system of flora and fauna dispersed across its surface, yet what seems to make this world so unique is the fact that all three animal species native to Newton III have evolved to be invisible. Their Camouflaged trait means that they are imperceptible to the naked eye, and require the use of a scanner.
Newton III isn’t the only planet with such creatures, as Sparta IV has arachnids with the same Camouflaged trait. Since conventional combat is less effective against invisible enemies, players who get attacked by a pack of cloaked predators need to either rely on the scanner or make use of theStar Sense power inStarfield. Another viable method is to use the Hornet Nest weapon mod for shotguns, as its explosive rounds will make sure that the splash damage hits the invisible target.
Another weapon mod that can help against cloaked enemies is the Recon Laser Sight, which will highlight any enemy in stealth, allowingStarfieldplayers to snipe them away from a distance with their hunting rifle. ThoughStarfieldhas plenty of amusing bugs, this isn’t one of them. Having camouflaged creatures roaming about the Settled Systems gives depth to the experience of exploring worlds, and hopefully, the fauna variety will only increase once the Creation Kit lands in the hands ofStarfield’s burgeoning modding community.
