Newly surfaced Steam data has just revealed the countries that are driving the early sales ofHogwarts Legacyon PC. While this version of the hit action RPG is also sold by other retailers, Valve’s storefront is arguably the most relevant data source for analyzing the game’s popularity among PC players, both due to its sheer size and the fact thatHogwarts Legacyis WB Games' biggest Steam launch ever.

While it’s still a bit early to judge the full extent of this historic launch, Steam scraper Gamalytic has already provided a rough breakdown of the game’s PC sales by country, based on the analysis of all public user profiles on Valve’s platform. According to its estimates,Hogwarts LegacySteam sales are in the ballpark of 5 million, with nearly one-third of them coming from the United States, followed by Germany at approximately 7%, as well as Brazil and the United Kingdom at around 6% each.
Assuming a flat 70-30 revenue split between Warner Bros. and Valve, the newly emerged estimates suggestHogwarts Legacyalready made its publisher some $210 million via the leading PC storefront. While WB Games never disclosed the project’s official budget, this data point still puts the company in the green with Steam sales alone even ifHogwarts Legacyhad one of thebiggest game development budgets in the history of the industry(which it plausibly did).
The game’s immense success on PC is consistent withSteam pre-order data forHogwarts Legacyrevealed back in January as one of the earliest indicators that the new ARPG will be among the best-selling titles of 2023. And while that projection is now on the fast track to becoming true, the rapidly growing player base is already calling for an encore. That notwithstanding, Avalanche Software recently revealed it hasn’t made any DLC plans as of right now.
So, while nothing is set in stone, the developer’s medium-term agenda remains solely focused on wrapping up work on last-generation ports ofHogwarts Legacy. Not least because that’s another 300 million-strong market that the newHarry Pottergame has yet to tap into.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are releasing April 4, whereas the Switch version is arriving July 25.
