Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originis one of Square Enix’s first big new game releases of 2022, and it’s looking to take theFinal Fantasyseries in a bold new direction. Narratively tied to thevery firstFinal Fantasygame,Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origindrops the traditional turn-based battle system that the franchise is known for in favor of a more action-oriented approach, drawing comparisons to games likeDark SoulsandNiohin the process.
TheStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy OriginNiohcomparisons make sense as the game is actuallybeing developed by Team Ninja, the same studio behind theNiohgames. Team Ninja and Square Enix have already let fans get their hands on the game through limited-time demos that have let them try out the single-player content as well as the game’s multiplayer component. Now the only thing left forFinal Fantasyfans to do is wait forStranger of Paradise’s release date to roll around, with the game set to launch a couple of months from now.

WhenStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origindoes launch, fans should know that they may need to clear out some storage space for it. Twitter account PlayStation Game Size, which prowls for information on unreleased games, has found evidence thatStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin’s file size will be a whopping 71.5 GB, and that’s not even taking into account a likely day one patch. There’s no word yet on if the PS4 version will be the same size, but one has to imagine that it will be roughly the same.
71.5 GB is rather large, but not unheard of for theFinal Fantasyseries. In fact,Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PS5 file sizeis even larger, so fans shouldn’t be all that surprised to learn thatStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originis going to take up a significant chunk of the PS5’s SSD space.
PlayStation Game Size also discovered the likely day that that fans will be able to start pre-loadingStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, so at the very least they’ll have some time to get the game downloaded before launch. According to PlayStation Game Size,Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originpre-loads will start on March 13, which is a couple of days before the game’s early access launch on March 15.
Those that pre-order thedigital deluxe edition ofStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originwill get three days early access to the game, three extra missions, and a handful of other goodies. Everyone else will have to wait a few days later to start their play-through.
