Street Fighter 6is becoming one of Capcom’s most anticipated games for 2023, with the game taking on a bold and creative direction. The visuals and style of the game are a marked departure from previous entries likeStreet Fighter 4and5. With the game’s direction taking on a more urban and grounded look and feel, it gives a unifying theme of being an urban street fighter. This is emphasized by themusic ofStreet Fighter 6, being influenced by hip-hop culture much likeStreet Fighter 3.
Some of these new tunes have been revealed already, showing off themes for veteran fighters Ryu and Chun-Li that have a different feel to them in comparison to their music in previous entries. EvenGuile’s theme inStreet Fighter 6is a big departure from the memetic rendition fromStreet Fighter 2. Capcom has recently shown off more music from the game that will play for two more members of the playable roster, the recently revealed Kimberly and Juri.

Forthe newcomer ofStreet Fighter 6Kimberly, her theme takes on a mixture of techno and hip-hop, with some chiptune thrown in that is representative of her love of the 80s. The officialStreet Fighter 6account describes it as being a modern take on being a ninja, which is reflected in her theme’s title; Ninjastar Pop. Astute fans of the character know that she is a student of Guy fromFinal Fight, with many fans noting that her theme has an homage to the first stage’s theme.
SinceStreet Fighter 6revealed Juri and Kimberlytogether, Capcom also gave fans a look at the returning femme fatale’s theme music. This theme is known as ArachniD**, which contains the same elements of hip-hop and techno, though given a much more sinister edge due to her nature as a femme fatale. The official account forStreet Fighter 6describes it as being a feeling of dread, much like a spider who has trapped its prey in an alluring web. Considering all the spider imagery that Juri is typically associated with along with her sadistic personality, that description seems to fit her well.
Many fans loved these new themes for both characters' appearances inStreet Fighter 6. Some had praised Juri’s theme for its edge, with praise noted towards the usage of a kiss sound at the end of Juri’s track, which gives the image of her giving out a “kiss of death” as well. Fans who loved Kimberly’s theme loved the direction it went, keeping it modern while paying homage toFinal Fight.
Street Fighter 6is currently scheduled to release in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
