For years, fans have been anxiously anticipating and speculating about Rocksteady’s new DC project. They already had won people over with theBatman: Arkhamseries, so all it took was one reveal to get most fans back on board, and it worked. Coming in 2022 isSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, a new co-op action-shooter for next-generation consoles only.

The trailer from DC FanDome was fast, energetic, action-packed, and it raised the expectations for the game big time, much like theGotham Knightstrailer did on the same day. However, for everything great it displayed, it also raised a few concerns from the fans.
10Excited: Action-Shooter Combat
It was teased in the trailer then revealed by the developers that this game will not be a clone of theArkhamgames but will mix melee and shooting together in an open world Metropolis. This is great news because it shows that Rocksteady are not just one-trick ponies who just copy and paste their games.
The Suicide Squad is drastically different characters than Batman, so it will be refreshing to see new gameplay from them. The trailer displayed their weapons and abilities thus showing the potential they have in aDying LightmeetsSunset Overdrive-esque game.
9Concerned: A New Destiny
This one is a mixed aspect as there are as manypeople who love and adoreDestiny 2as there are those who dislike it. With the four characters and confirmation that it’s to be a four-player co-op game, there is the possibility thatSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguecould be a “Games As A Service” title.
For some, that might work, but the game might push away those consider similar titles as nothing but time-wasting money grabbers. One can only hope that Rocksteady finds that perfect middle ground to get everybody on board with playing the game at launch.
8Excited: Hunting The Justice League
Saving the world from what is likely a brainwashed Justice League? Sounds like it could be a fun experience as the Justice League is comprised of some of the most powerful beings in the DC universe including the one and only Superman who was shown in the trailer.

This could lead to boss battles that are not only fun but difficult to the point ofrivaling the boss fights inDark SoulsorBloodborne. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash alone should make players scared to fight them. Thankfully this is a new entry in the Arkham-verse so we might not have to fight Batman.
7Concerned: Only Four Characters
The four characters shown in the trailer look great: Harley, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark? All visually stunning with crazy abilities that will surely be fun to play but some fans were quick to point out: only four? In the comics, Task Force X is known for having large revolving rosters.
While the four are great showcases for the game, some are hoping that there will be more characters to choose from including El Diablo, Rick Flagg, Katana, and more.Similar to theUltimate Alliancegames, letting the players choose their four-character team could lead to some crazy combinations.
6Excited: A Supervillain Action-Comedy
Between Harley’s insanity, Captain Boomerang’s vulgar nature, King Shark’s goofy yet awesome concept as a character, and Deadshot acting as the straight? The banter between these characters is probably what’s going to steal the entire game for some people which is going to be refreshing.
TheArkhamgames stuck to a dark, serious, and epic tone that 100% worked throughout all the games but with crazy villains working together to save the world that they hate? It will be a fitting change in tone to see a dark action-comedy in thesame vein as theBorderlandsgames.
5Concerned: Potential Plot Holes
With this game supposedly a continuation of the Arkham-verse, some were quick to point out how drastically different this game looks from theArkhamseries: in Harley’s case, it fits since she changes her look more times than the sun sets and rises. However, there were aspects of the trailer that raised a few eyebrows and questions.
Deadshot’s design for his suit and helmet are not even close to being similar to what he wore in any appearance he had in theArkhamgames, same with King Shark who not only looks different but is somehow still alive after having his head blown off inAssault On Arkham. Even the Justice League’s presence raises questions like: where were they when Scarecrow filled Gotham City with a cloud of fear-toxin?
4Excited: Giving Us An M For Mature Rating!
Players will be controlling the likes of Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang: these are not nice people, they are known for being vulgar and violent. Even with King Shark: those teeth are not just for show and Deadshot is the world’s greatest assassin who has no qualms with blowing a bad guy’s brains out.

The trailer hinted at an M for mature rating with the bloody deaths of the weird monsters the Squad will be fighting, Superman turning one soldier to ashes, and, of course, when Captain Boomerang drops an F-bomb when he realizes that they have to fight the Man of Steel. Rocksteady went and madeBatman: Arkham Knightdark enough to warrant an M rating so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they do the same here.
3Concerned: Less Character Development
With the crazy concept of hunting down the Justice League and the more crazy style this game seems to be going for, will the game have time to explore the colorful characters they have chosen? These characters are more than just Amanda Waller’s puppets on a string, they have their own plights.
Deadshot’s desire to get back with his daughter, Harley’s struggle with adapting to the world without the Joker, and even King Shark has some depth to his character. Rocksteady is known for their storytelling so hopefully they can balance all the fun with a good amount of character development along the way.
2Excited: Mayhem In Metropolis
With theArkhamgames and the upcomingGotham Knightsproviding gamers with an in-depth look at Gotham City, it was a wise decision to change things up by havingSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguetake place in what is normally the brightest city of the DC universe: Metropolis.
With Brainiac’s forces and the Justice League putting the city in ruins combined with the four-player co-op, Metropolis could be just as fun to explore with tons of instances, side quests, and characters to interact with to make it just as addicting to free-roam as Gotham City from theArkhamgames.
1Concerned: Lack Of Customization
Though there isn’t much information to go off of, Rocksteady has not been known for their in-depth customization of characters. The most fans got were well-crafted skins for Batman and the various character which definitely worked for those games but after games likeInjustice 2andRed Dead Redemption 2,Suicide Squad: KTJLis ripe for customization.
Not only is there the new weapons for each character, there’s their unique outfits: Deadshot’s helmet, Boomerang’s jacket, Harley’s…everything, and King Shark’s accessories. Players could easily spend hours grinding for the right gear to create their perfect Deadshot: just no microtransactions for gear, please.
