Super Smash Bros. Ultimatenow contains a new bug that could crash the entire game. This comes after therecent 8.1.0 updatewhich might have improved other problems, but also might have caused this one.
The glitch inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateonly occurs in particular conditions, but it is bothersome to try to avoid or deal with if the bug is encountered. This is unfortunate because the last update was promising for players with a number of new developments, one being the the ability to set the Small Battlefield map as an online preferred rule.

But now it seems that the update that accommodated music preferences and a new stage is causing the game to crash. The glitch was first spotted by a player who shared it on Go Nintendo’s forum yesterday in the hopes of getting it fixed as quickly as possible. The bug emerges during stage selection, when the player presses their ‘Y’ key to play a song –a feature added in the latest updatethat lets players choose any song for their battles. Then, when players select ‘All’, the music stops and it takes them back to the stage select menu. But, when in the stage select menu, if the player tries to select a stage the game suddenly crashes.
The crash comes at a time whenSmashfans are excited about the next DLC fightersin addition to the new online map. However, this new glitch, if confronted, will hinder their enjoyment of the game thus far.
However, this isn’t the only issue that has been noticed withSuper Smash Bros. Ultimaterecently. AlthoughUltimate’s8.1.0 patch notes included an adjustment for online user experience and that there are more improvements to come, there is still a lot of work to be done to upgrade the online matches in terms of infrastructure, latency, and sync. Since the launch, theonline matches ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatehave been troublesomewith concerns regarding lag on each consecutive release with this year’s online tournaments.
It looks like theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateteam have a lot to work on to enhance overall user experience, and to diminish the presence of glitches both discovered and undiscovered. But it also looks like the steps in the right direction are being taken, by slowly but surely making the necessary changes, like withSmash Bros. Ultimate8.1.0 patch adjustmentsforits online matches.
