Summary
Baldur’s Gate 3launched on PC to critical success with some of the highest scores ever given a game across major review sites. Credit was given to its incredible characters, rich story, and world, and the sheer amount of freedom given to the player. Set in the world ofDungeons and Dragons,Baldur’s Gate 3draws its spells directly from the tabletop game, which includes Speak to Animals, a spell that may appear to be frivolous on the surface, but creates an entirely new experience on the Sword Coast. Animals of all kinds populate the area, though none are as regal as the house cat.
Larian Studios nailed their depictions of house cats through their appearance, temperament, and behavior. As any cat owner would know, cats are regal and proud creatures, and the ones inBaldur’s Gate 3are no different. All too dignified for how small and cute they are, theypopulate the streets of Baldur’s Gateand small settlements where they’re guaranteed a place to be pampered. Using Speak to Animals allows the player character to interact with the cats on their level, gleaning insight, gossip, or simply the privilege of complimenting the cats in their language.
