The main depth and variety surroundingIshin’s gunplay is found within the wide variety of ammo types that the player can purchase, craft, and equip for their pistol. Like a Dragon: Ishin - Enhanced Ammo Type
One of the most usefulammo types inLike a Dragon: Ishinis made available to the player fairly early on into the narrative, simply called Enhanced Rounds. As the name suggests, Enhanced Rounds deal much better damage than regular rounds, offering a commendable attack value of 850.
Despite simply dealing a greater level of damage output to enemies, Enhanced Rounds have a secondary purpose that is arguably even more useful. Crucially, Enhanced Rounds will knock most enemies over, leaving them in a stunned state. Like manyotherYakuzagames, the combat ofIshinis typified by huge crowds of enemies that can easily overwhelm the player, especially on higher difficulties. In this way, the utility of being able to temporarily knock down enemies with a single Enhanced Round shot is massive, making this particular ammo type one of the most useful in the game.
Like a Dragon: Ishin - Acid Ammo Type
The Acid Rounds ofLike a Dragon: Ishinare typical of the game’s wacky weapons, but serve an undoubtedly important purpose. Acid Rounds are primarily designed to counter the many armored enemies inIshin, which can otherwise prove to be formidable opponents.
Acid Rounds quickly eat away at the armored health of these particular enemies, expediting the otherwise lengthy process of whittling away at their armor in melee combat. Given how the presence of these armored enemies can make for much more intense combat situations, the ability to quickly break armor via the Acid Rounds ammo type is massively important, making Acid Rounds one of the most useful ammo types in the title.
Like a Dragon: Ishin - Poison Ammo Type
A somewhat underrated but nevertheless useful ammo type inLike a Dragon: Ishinare Poison Rounds. Like all other ammo types, Poison Rounds can be created viaLike a Dragon: Ishin’scrafting system, or can simply be purchased at certain vendors.
As might be expected, Poison Rounds deal damage over time to an enemy, serving a predictable but very useful purpose. Using Poison Rounds, players can quickly enterIshin’sGunman combat styleto tag several enemies with Poison Rounds in large-scale fights, then switch to melee-based styles to deal with other enemies while the poison effect is still in place. The many ammo types ofIshinoffer a fantastic level of customization and variety to the title’s gunplay system, but the properties of certain ammo types outshine the rest in quite a significant way.
